Fire Coach Woodson Thread

Recommended Posts

The only reason I would be okay with Bruce for only 5-7 years….if he does what we would all expect him to do….in 7 years, this school has the opportunity to where we wouldn’t even been entertaining a young coach from FAU. We could be a school that picks is coach rather than asking.

But than again, need to slow down and see if Bruce even comes.

I wasn’t going to post this but I might as well now: my (imaginary) sources tell me Steve Kerr has grown tired of the NBA grind and may be thinking about coaching at the college level.

I think we can all probably connect the (fake) dots here….vbg

Fun fact. Steve Kerr’s son married our former neighbors daughter and kids babysitter who is also an IU grad.

Make it happen Scott.

I’m fine with getting Bruce in here for 5-7 years to energize the program while Dusty spends time at another high major program for those 5-7 years proving himself.  Then when Pearl decides to hang it up, and we bring in Dusty.
The ironic thing is Woodson was supposedly hired to energize the program yet he has depressed most fans. We certainly need a guy like pearl now and not in a year. Still not sure iu pulls it off though they always seem to screw these things up.

Obviously, this whole thread is pretty much based on speculation and wishes.

But ... I think it's awfully presumptuous (if not humorous) of folks to say -- We'll get Pearl for 6-7 years, then go get Dusty May.

Of course, I'm a cranky old man (LOL), but if I'm Dusty and I continue on a somewhat successful path -- if I'm not already at a P5 school and IU doesn't hire me when they have their next opening, I'm telling them to piss up a rope when/if they do call.

Dusty is 47. I don't know the man, but I would guess he'd want to be where he's gonna be in the next couple years -- and not wait till he's 53 or 54 to hear from Bloomington.

If Dusty May is available five years from now it would mean he hasn’t succeeded at a P5 school and we won’t want him.

That's not necessarily true. It's possible he would feel jilted or otherwise too settled to move 6 years from now, but if IU is truly his dream job, he'll likely move when the opportunity arises. Just as if Pearl is willing to make the jump now.

I agree. But that's not what I said. Some seem to think we can just call him whenever -- this year, in five years -- and he'll come running. I would think that's probably not the case.

What would happen to this board if they went on a run and won the B1G tournament?

I think there is less than a 2% chance that could happen, but what if this team played up to the talent that many of you have said we have?

I wonder if the folks hoping we lose out would change their tune?

I wonder if the perception of this season would change from being “terrible?”

That’s why I am willing to wait and see how the rest of the season plays out. As unlikely as it is, it ain’t over til it’s over

I, for one, hope they win out!  I hope they win the whole damn B1G Tourney!  I've never seen it happen, so always will root for it to happen.  The season, even if we win out, will still be a disappointment.

That still won't change the fact that IU needs to make a change at coach.  He doesn't want the grind and has glaring in game faults, so that is why I think we need a change.

I was there too. I played with Painter he graduated a year before me. Man Keady’s wife’s makeup was something to see lol.

She reminded me of pretty lady leatherface.

Simply put, if Bruce Pearl says he’d accept the job THIS offseason and we hire Dusty May instead, it’s clear where priorities lie.

Well IF we are getting BP from a P5 school this time why can’t we do it again even if Dusty does well there.
