Fire Coach Woodson Thread

What´s everyone going to think when the next coach loses their first ¨bad loss" game? Awful lot of right now people, and society isn´t letting up on that.

Win or walk the plank.

This is Indiana.

We have put up with crap since RMK.

If we do not win, the coach gets the hook.

(Just kidding...mediocrity is ok with us.   Purdue can win and..OMG  no...not that.)

Just win, baby!

That’s actually a bad look on Ya’s part imo. That’s the HC’s call. Woodys reasoning is defensible, even though it didn’t work out.

In my experience, you can bring it up again over drinks later that night if you have that kind of relationship. But showing the boss/HC up in public like that is not kosher and shouldn’t be tolerated.

I remember that game with Archie and Bruiser screaming at each other on the bench. This situation felt reminiscent of that. The beginning of the end.

I think most of our fan base accepts that bad losses happen occasionally.  They shouldn’t happen weekly.

Not in the slightest....I´m saying IU society is going to require the next coach to win immediately. Or he wiĺl be toast too.

Woody and Archie and even Crean to some extent all got years beyond when the fanbase started viscerally shouting for their demise. We are as patient as any other fanbase that fancies itself elite or blue blood. I don’t need a 120+ game sample size to judge if a system works or see how recruiting is going. Anyone with eyeballs objectively watching Woodyball since day one knew exactly how this season would go. Year four was a mistake and we waited too long, again. The new guy will have plenty of leash, just like every other guy to coach here.

Good coaches win fast. Good coaches with huge NIL budgets win even faster. I am not sure the argument here.

Kind of the nature of the business, tbh. I think IU fans have demonstrated that at worst they’re no more impatient than your average large, rabid fanbase.

Sounds like the locker room after the game was pretty spicy.  Hopefully the right person observed that.

While Cathy helps let the process play out we gotta just keep working man. Malik has been out six games.
I'm not using that as an excuse but man he is not conditioned. I just gotta get these guys to understand. Look I got seven new players

....I agree to some extent. Winning, especially with IU basketball used to be the norm for decades.

I think most of us on here can agree that if we saw much better coaching on a consistant basis, wins wouldn't be so hard to come across. That being said, a loss with the same type of improved/better coaching is more palpable. The quality/results of our losses are where everyone is scratching their heads about.

A better coached team easily puts us in the top 3rd of the BIGTEN. IMO.

I cannot even imagine what is going through Bryson Tucker's head at this point. Five star recruit that has played well at times and is by all accounts a good kid is watching this train wreck and literally has not seen the floor for two straight games.

Ohhhhh boy...

Dislocated pinky

For nostalgia sake, I’m hoping for some rumors of a 3:30 press conference.

You’ve been around IU message boards a while if you get that reference.

I would like that more then a random insider tweet of Dolson “gives Woodson a vote of confidence.”

He has a dislocated finger so maybe that is why he hadn't played

I think at the very least we need to see effort, fundamentals, and players playing like they give a **** - coaches as well. The fanbase rallied around Crean's first couple teams despite nothing but losses bc they played hard and you could tell the coaching staff was engaged - something good was brewing. Totally different situation back then but you get the point. We appreciate hard work and hustle. The wins will come. If they don't, you'll get fired.

Nah. Two games ago he was questionable but warmed up, was active, and was in uniform, and now he's completely off the injury report.
