Fire Coach Woodson Thread

Indiana didn't end any if their careers.

Being awful at Georgia ended Crean's.

Miller went to Rhode Island and has won 43% of his games.

Woodson's head coaching career ended in 2014 because he's a lousy coach; Indiana was just dumb enough to see that as a green flag.

You can add Mike Davis failed at mid-major UAB before turning things around at a low major, Texas Southern, and then failed again at Detroit Mercy. Only Kelvin Sampson has won at a high level post-IU, and he's the only one that didn't get fired for losing too many games.

Yeah, Davis continued working his way down the ladder after leaving IU. Sampson is the only legitimately good coach we've had in the last 25 years and he actually was winning.

Hmm, almost like IU can win with a good coach.

At one point, Woodson was in the top 10. Miller was also top 10 for a bit.

Paycheck-wise... but neither were close to top 10, performance-wise.

The word is that the deal was done until Buckner played his nepotism card, vetoed the deal and kept the Wizard of Broad Ripple.

As BoT chair, he prevented the athletic director from performing his contractual duties in favor of propping up a feckless buddy.

The word from who? The guys who are telling you Brad Stevens is coaching here next season? lol

Some of them... and a few more not on this board...

But you go on hating... when we get the bandwagon rolling again, don't bother trying to hop back on...

Huh? I’ve never gotten off. I’ve never rooted for IU to lose or pretended I didn’t care. You’re barking up the wrong tree.

You didn't find Steven's masshole interview to be just even a little suspicious the last go around?

If he hadn't talked to IU why would he talk up the IU job, and then pull a complete 180?

This is just my opinion, but there has to be at least a little smoke, and I have to think that they have called him, and AD in the state of Indiana may have called him. Why wouldn't they?

RMK...under the bus.

You could easily argue that without IU, RMK ends up one of those mercurial genius coaches that eventually overcomes his flaws to scratch out a singular title.

But at IU with its crazed love of basketball and fertile recruiting grounds his flaws weren’t only looked past but often celebrated. He became larger than life and a legend of the sport. At one point he wielded enough populari-type power the Gov refused to extradite him after he “allegedly” punched a cop.

We’re a long way from then, but that’s the type of upside the job possesses.

@AH1971

You have maybe posted this, but I likely missed it in the billions pages.

If you don't think Stevens, May, Pearl are realistic, what is your list of candidates you would like to see / that you think would have interest?

Without a blessing for Beard or Wade (who would both take the job by the way), TJ Otz is my first call without question. Likely a no but I can afford to be turned down once. Start striking out on guys like Stevens, May, Pearl, you’re going to get an influx of calls from agents you’ve never heard from before and you’re going to be taken for a long, hard ride.

From there I kick the tires on Mick Cronin. Mick has publicly called into question UCLA’s NIL and for the right job geographically, I think he bolts. Really surprised he didn’t end up at Louisville last cycle. Realistically, he’d be one of the best candidates without any serious baggage you could hope to hire.

Strike out on those two and then I’ve probably shown my hand and the chances of getting a P4 guy that has shown some success really dwindles from there.

If I’m looking at guys at smaller conferences, Chris Mack and Pitino Jr are probably your best bets.

I’m sure Dolson has called him.
