We just gotta wait and see what the results of the game are on Sunday to determine if the Optics are right to think about putting together a plan to put the plan in motion that has already taken place.

Incredible isn't it.

Hold up.

So the administration had plans to fire Mike Woodson mid-season, told assistants this was going to be the plan, couldn't get any assistant to take the interim job, and then just acted like nothing happened? Lol.

I truly don't think even you don't believe half the stuff you share on here. That or you're extremely gullible.

IU is not firing a coach mid-season, especially one of their own. Just isn't happening. The best this fan base can hope for is a joint statement from Woodson/administration announcing that he's stepping down at the conclusion of the season. If/when that happens, I expect it to be sometime before IU's last game, a home game on senior day.

No nothing like that is even close to what happened.

I believe the plan is in place and just the people involved in the plan know about it and the motion will start when the timing is right.

If IU continues to play poorly the remainder of the season the noise will become increasingly loud, especially the fans during the game.
……no way in H#ll he is publicly stepping down after a home game, especially not Senior Night!! It would be a blood bath!!!! SMH

This guy has ruined the program.

I'd like to thank the Ferguson family, Steve and his whole family because he's been a major mentor in my life; the Cook family

He is probably writing the Bosnian a million dollar check today.

We can disagree. I could explain how the talks happened but I told someone I wouldn't talk about it anymore because the staff doesn't like it.

I don't think he isn't fired because of it being bad optics, I just feel it is that they don't believe in firing a coach in season. I would feel that way if we were 8-12 right now.

I also don't see what firing a coach mid season does for the future of the program.  The only thing it does is ease the minds of the fans knowing there will be a change. It isn't like we can do interviews during the season since the candidates still has a current job. They can do back channel talks even if Woodson has a still coaching so nothing would be different. It wouldn't help in recruiting since we won't be recruiting until the new staff is in place.

I think midseason firings may start to happen more often now with the portal being a big factor. Teams that are out of contention and won't be in the tournament want to get a jump start on recruiting portal players.

I don't get why a mid-season firing would jump start portal recruiting. You are still waiting for the next coach to be in place before any recruit is going to think about jumping to your school.

Sure, you might have a handshake agreement in place with your next coach, and he might start quietly working back channels. But that could be true even if you haven't officially fired the current coach yet. So I'm not sure what the mid-season firing accomplishes, portal wise.

Isn’t it more about possibly scaring away the potential new coach if we fire a coach mid season with a winning record overall and in conference, with still 11 regular season games left that they could win many of them.  Also, isn’t the fact that the many coaches and normal fans don’t see all the detailed circumstances involved in this whole mess.

If a potential new coach is too dumb to see that the Woody era isn’t working out then that coach shouldn’t be considered for the job.

One reason I think a change is possible in the season is no one likes seeing a former player booed and having chants that he should be fired during the games. But if everyone is OK with that then let's wait till the end of the season.

That sounds very logical to me. I also think the timing will be less on wins and losses than it will be on more episodes in the Hall like what we saw against Illinois.

The whole thing could be cringe worthy because of Woodson…

It would cement his legacy... he would confirm what most of us already know... good player here 40 years ago; entitled and ego-centric human being; absolutely horrible coach. Arrogant to the end.
