Fire Coach Woodson Thread

I feel like the entire goal of Mike Woodson's tenure at IU was accomplished when Bob Knight came out onto the court. That's it....I don't think QB cared about wins and losses or anything else. QB and MW wanted to be the ones to bring Bob Knight back...

Didn’t he come back under Archie?

If true I am glad Cheaney said no.  Let Ya fall on the sword.  Calbert was my favorite player growing up and I know he had loyalty to Woodson and is probably irritated how all this went down, but I don't want to see this monstrous mistake take out any more Hoosier legends than it already has.

Curious about how his "loyalty to Woodson" is anything but being complicit in the crapfest?

I don't think we know that with absolute certainty.  His term is up but the new governor could reappoint him.

Different governor now and I pray, one with a brain/conscience.

FWIW- over on Bleacher Report a person who normally has fairly reliable information says that Beard has reached out to Pat Knight… they are apparently friends which has been mentioned somewhere in this massive thread…. And let Pat know that he is interested and would come.

I have no special knowledge and sorry if someone else has previously shared this. It’s hard to keep up. I also don’t have a strong opinion about whether beard should or should not be a candidate- that has been discussed by numerous others here already.

Personally, I think Ya deserves the interim tag more than anyone, and I don't understand why you all are sticking up for Cheaney, regardless of how good of a player he was.... he told us last year to be patient lol

It’s the same reasoning behind the initial takes on Woodson, Fife, etc. He’s an “IU guy.” The interim guy doesn’t even really matter. Whoever he is, just make sure he can’t trick the administration into keeping the gig full time

That isn't anything shocking. It is well known Beard wants the job.

I agree, it doesn't matter a lick, but you should still do right by people, IMO. And, IMO, from what I've seen on TV... and actually Ya coached at Minnesota too... he'd get my nod.

What's Pat Knight got to do with Indiana's coaching situation. Who even is Pat Knight these days?

I'm cool with Beard and his baggage as well. That's just where I am at this point in my life and my IU fandom. I want to win. Tired of not getting past the Sweet 16.

I just feel like they'll be a divide in the fanbase. Plenty will oppose that hire. That alone is why I don't think IU will even think about it. The moral compass in the SEC is just different than the Big Ten and certainly IU. He fits in down there. Not sure he does here. That said - the fans will rally behind a winner.

Ya couldn't coach his way out of a non existent paper bag.

Correct, 2nd wife and to my knowledge she was never a cheerleader.  He met her on a flight, she was the flight attendant.
