His contract had a clause that said when he makes the CFP semis, there is a good faith renegotiation of his contract so that he is a top three paid coach. Worth it! Never, ever would I have believed Indiana would have had a top 3 paid coach in the land. Our stadium seats 60% what the big boys do. Need to generate the revenue in other ways. Incredible! Also, a few years back the idea of paying Brad Stevens 8-10 was equally unimaginable. Hopefully DeVries has the fire and the resources to build something special for basketball here soon. AZ Hoosier Posted Friday at 06:15 PM Posted Friday at 06:15 PM Pinch me. I have to be dreaming. IU football is the national champions, and we're paying our coach over $13M/year. Need to buy some lottery tickets! Hollywood Mike Miranda 1 Quote

Jeff Flabjohns Posted Friday at 06:36 PM Posted Friday at 06:36 PM This was of course scheduled to happen regardless of the outcome in Miami—well deserved either way. It’s just so awesome it comes after a win, not a loss. Hollywood Mike Miranda 1 Quote

Remember the days when opposing football teams circled IU as an easy win on Saturday and we usually circled those as probable loses? My, how the times have changed..... Quote

If by update you mean tear it down, increase seating including suites and then have some new press box by default I agree. I wonder if the corporate sponsorships are increasing in a unexpectedly big way. Sure they are going to go up but when we had one, I could not give tickets away. Now, those tickets are in high demand and there are a lot more eyes on your adds so what we paid $250k/yr on in 2020 might be worth triple that if not more. I think there were around 20 other corporate sponsors back then and I would think that number has to be much higher now too. WayneFleekHoosier, Napleshoosier and Stuhoo 3 Quote

At least for me, update the box means build an extension to bring back a mega version of The Irish Lion that is open for 10 hours on game days. Soda bread and yard beers. Stuhoo 1 Quote

We need a new press box with about 4x as many suites on the regular side PLUS one structure that's ALLLL suites on the other side. Some like what Wisconsin has... stretches the whole side, but isn't all that tall. Then add 5k-8k seats to fill in gaps, of general seating. Quote

I think we are worse at every position, maybe quite a bit worse at QB (I do think Hoover is good, but not Mendoza) and TE. I do think our OL will be better. Quote
CSP Posted Friday at 07:21 PM Posted Friday at 07:21 PM I just feel like a whole structure, like shown, added to assembly hall side of Memorial stadium seems logical. Quote

Yes, but with that lovely collegiate gothic limestone architecture of the north endzone (not Wisconsin's 1970's office building look). I'm hoping we get some Memorial Stadium renovation announcements in the coming months, but I've got no idea what the timeline is. Quote

I just mean... the "above the stadium premium seating" is by far the best route for IU at this time... not "let's go add 20k worth of seating"... jmo. I feel like we could make one of these structures work very well... and I really think corporations are chomping at the bit for this stuff. Probably drive the ticket price for the rest of us down a little. Quote

My statement is very much TBD, but Hoover is more of a gunslinger than Mendoza is, and if we have a third receiving option beyond Marsh and Becker, I think we’ll air it out a bit more this year (on the condition that Hoover cuts down his licks…). Mendoza could thread a needle, but he also only had one game over 300 yards (and one 299 yard game). I think Hoover will have 4-5 games over 300 yards, we have a great receiving duo (at minimum a duo), and our running game shouldn’t miss a beat (although Black’s pass blocking will be hard to emulate). More than anything, our coaches now have some “toys” to play with on O this year. My biggest concern for our defense will be the secondary. Our pass rush and run defense should be just as good, if not better. Overall, I expect us to be favored in every game this year. Quote
