Are we now destined to be a “run-n-shoot” team? Because that’d be fun and could make up for a talent gap with the big boy teams.

You mean the "chuck and duck."  :)

Both my kids graduated from OM 2 years ago. We still go down often for games. They never wanted to come home! Smith's high school is in our conference here in Columbus.

Most likely. Sucks, but there are worse things than moving from a bunch of guys that haven't sniffed a bowl game whether the root cause was coaching or not.

No offense to Lucas, but I’d be shocked if anyone is giving him a big offer.

He showed straight line speed but that’s about it, despite his speed he doesn’t have a ton of shiftiness nor did he ever show much of an impressive ability to make guys miss in space.

I wish him well, and as someone who was super high on Lucas coming into the year, I just don’t think he will ever be much more than a special teams guy.

Completely agree. Lucas is valuable and as quick as it gets when he has a seam, but he doesn't really make people miss and isn't that effective as a third down back. Valuable, but not "big NIL at SEC school" valuable. He would be missed but he's replaceable.

I don't know if Lucas was ever put in position to really show what he's capable of. He sure as hell wasn't when Walt was calling the offense. I don't think he's some unbelievable, Zachariah Branch type of guy, but I'll be curious to see what he can do with a staff that puts him in the right position whether that's here or elsewhere. The vision and speed are tough to replicate.

I'm just wondering if Coach C has a different plan for him, ....one where his speed and quickness doesn't require him to be a major focal point on both return team and running plays on offense?... JMO

I don't think he should be an offensive focal point for anyone either. Because of his size, he's a gadget player where you pick your spots to get the ball in his hands and maximize what he does. Handing him the ball out of the backfield just doesn't make any sense and I still can't believe Walt insisted on doing it. It's also a shame that he's a bad punt returner.

He would murder in the Kevin Wilson system. Getting open in the middle of the field. What we did with guys like Shane Wynn and there are a ton of other examples that teams like Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State etc have done with small, quick guys.
