Part of changing the culture is not having players who have become accustomed to loosing.  They may be good players, but loosing becomes a way of life.  Clean house and start fresh.

Alan Soukup, a former IU/CTA commit appears to be frustrated about his previous scholarship offer and the new IU coaching staff..... I suspect this has happened a lot and will continue. I mean,....this really reminds me of what Coach Prime did pre-season at Colorado. Oh, well. Gotta get his type of guys.

This is not unique to Prime. I am not a huge fan of this, yet I am not trying to turn around a historical P5/Big Ten bottom feeder. As the saying goes "you can't make an omelette without breaking some eggs". I am sure CCC and his staff was given the green light to do this as a part of taking the job. He seems like the kinda coach who would be pretty transparent as to what it takes to turn around a team and program quickly.

I know Prime wasn't the only coach to do it, it just reminds me of our current situation. CCC is basically saying and I paraphrase, "You are not going to be a good fit for me and this team and I don't see a place for you here. You will need to find somewhere else to play. I wish you the best of luck."

This ^^^. Having played on a lot of teams over the years, the best teams were aligned by one goal. To be good. We didn't always like each other, but there was a mutual respect and aligned by that one goal. Some of the most talented guys I ever played with were not so great in leading a team or were ok with just being the best on the team regardless of the team's success. You need the right combination of grinders, leaders, and talent. And to be really good, they are one in the same.

College football has become the Wild West. No rules, no guidelines no cents. The monies, arrogance, and b.s. have made it worse than the PRO's. I hope college football figures out a way to straighten this out because I find it sickening.

I know it’s tough having to change plans, and high schoolers are not typically the most level-headed decision-makers, but think of the alternative: do you really want to go play for a coach who doesn’t want you?

To the extent I had issues with Deion’s approach, it was the calloused dismissal of the guys he inherited, the rumor that CU initially withheld practice tape of redshirt players trying to transfer, etc. The problem was the cruelty, not necessarily saying “you’re not going to play here so we’ll both be better off if you seek other opportunities.”

I guess for some players, CU also waited until the spring to send them packing. That was a jerk move since the players thought they were safe and it also made it harder for them to find new teams.

FWIW, one of the ranked long snappers on that list is in a class I teach.  Great kid.  I can tell you that people would be impressed with how much work that the ranked long snappers have to put in get the accolades.  For most of them, long snapping is all they do for their team.  Kid in my class has been at tons of long snapping camps.  Snapped for us for four years and never had a bad snap in that time.

Notice that almost all of the commitments and offers are for a preferred walk-on status instead of scholarship. From the wording above, I'm guessing that was the issue here. The new coaching staff probably didn't want to use a scholarship on a position that most teams don't use scholarships on.

FWIW, I think he was actually offered a scholarship. Wracher came in on scholarship also. Not sure if this staff is choosing not to use a spot on LS or just have another one they like better. The Kohls rankings mean very little other than to show that you paid to go to their camps.

I understand that CTA and company offered him a scholarship. CCC did not. I was just pointing out that a lot of the players on that list were not offered scholarships, just walk-on positions.
