Here is the spot of the first down run.  Refs actually did spot it correct.  In that situation, Sorsby had the space to get the first down if he goes head first.  The yellow line is incorrect for the first down -- ball as on the 44 on first down (you can see the blue line).

Regardless, it's criminal not to run on second down and just pick up the first down right away.

So many plays in the TA era like that where you can only describe it as cowardly. He may not call the plays but he set the tone for that at very least.
