Stats are not end all. Malik proving that right now as well. You want to go deeper into true analytics, sure. I will listen but not some points and rebound stats. About as good as +\-

They are not in the same league. Not even close. If they were, sure, I would take freshman Yogi over X at times and for sure over Trey.

again, you are proving me point.

For the last several weeks I enjoyed reading your comments and thought you made some intriguing analysis/assumptions. Reading through this today, you are attempting to beat your assumptions onto others and discrediting any pushback. You could have the most reasonable and explainable take, but if you are antagonistic while saying it your prerogative is nullified. You will never convince anyone that you are correct by telling them they're inherently wrong. Truthfully, about Cupps, nobody here knows who he is and who he is not like.  The kid is 2 games into his career, nobody (not even him) knows his limitations. Prime example, look at Braden Smith 53 weeks ago - many would've said he was "limited" but one limit that sucker doesn't have is winning. Hoping Cupps has that same trait of limitless winning and as of 2 games and 2 exhibitions into his career it would seem as if he is trending toward being a winner.

I'm good with anyone's assumptions and analysis on here, it is all good food for thought, but to tell others they are absolutely wrong, and you are correct will not help your case at all. Anyways, carry on friends.

We really gonna do the X discourse all year aren't we? Shocking newsflash, college basketball player has some flaws. He was the one guy that played with intensity from the jump and without his production in the first half we probably lose that game. I get so frustrated seeing people nitpick every little thing he does and ignore anything positive he brings. He's a good player that helps our team. I thought people would get off his @$$ after the massive jump he made at the end of his first season but he seems to still have a target on his back from some of our fans and I think that's ridiculous.

Until I see a kid publicly say I didn’t pick school X because of what some fans are saying on Twitter I won’t care what is being represented by nameless people on social media.    Fans don’t have that kind of power in my opinion.

Their wallets do though!

As go iu bb said above ... "hyperbole much?"

And FWIW, no one said that X is a flawless leader, just that he is a more natural leader than Galloway.

My wife accuses me of over exaggerating but in this case I really don’t think so.  Robbie Hummel pointed out that he was arguing every foul call against him.  He just needs to let it go and just play.  As far as the comments about Ware and Reneau, we all heard it.  But I’m not going to argue about me over exaggerating, everyone is entitled to their opinion.  I hope our leadership issues get worked out, right now it’s lacking and so is the coaching, but it can be that players may not be responding either.  We can all agree, right now this team has issues and if things don’t get straightened out, it could be a long season.  There is talent on this team and I trust CMW and staff will get it corrected soon.  We will take our lumps thru mid-December though.

So we need a kid to state publicly that if you are X or MM you get called thugs, not a leader, not a “smart player” and more that I won’t repeat here until we as fans realize it is a problem and needs to stop. The excuse that all fanbases do it such a passive approach.  Shouldn’t matter if it affects recruiting or not.

you stated clearly you don’t go on Twitter. (Happens on here as well) Well, all these kids do and the comments are terrible. All while acting like the white kid never does wrong and not acknowledging he is limited.  Would just be nice to hear our “knowledgeable fanbase”  realize what the modern game takes to be successful. We need X, we need CJ, we need MM level athletes. Cupps is fine and will be a very solid 4 year guy. Measurable traits are what they are. (Speed, burst, etc)

I will let it go as I know some are tired of hearing it. As a follow fan, do your best to squash those bias statements when you hear them. Read between the lines of what people say. All I ask.

Good lord

It is not hard to do an assessment of players maximum capability. Also not uncommon. That isn’t writing them off. This is done for all recruting, nba draft etc.
No, he wasn’t recruited to be a bench warmer but he wasn’t recruited to be the starting PG. how hard they went after Boogie shows you that. The staff knows he is a solid role player. Nothing wrong with that.
This is fair. It's also fair to acknowledge a player, especially with a personality type like Gabe, can progress into something nobody thought possible. Cupps has something in him competitively (not athletically) I haven't seen since Yogi. I'm not betting against Cupps for anything.

I’m on Twitter all the time I just don’t pay attention to nameless people’s comments.  It’s a cesspool so why mud my way through junk from people that are irrelevant

Most are not nameless as they have their name and show their IU fandom proud. Heck, we have one of them who is a sports media guy (I know, I know, DD doesn’t count)

we have a different approach to stuff like this. Is what it is.

He counts he is definitely an irrelevant mouthpiece  that contributes to the cesspool (blocked him) that I chose not to pay attention to anything he says.

He says some things that I agree with and make me think, "ok this guy knows IU basketball" and then he'll randomly go an assault of every player we have and coach without any reason behind it. I don't understand why he goes crazy on there sometimes.
