Impressed by the work his done in weight room the last 365 days. It's evident, even with his long arms.

He not a high-level athlete. But he IS an outstanding combination of incredible court awareness and savvy along with being a pretty decent athlete.

Cupps was invited to the SLAM Summer Classic at historic Rucker Park in NYC last summer, and competed in the slam dunk competition. He’s no slouch athlete.

BTW -- X is not back quite yet.

He said on the podcast he hasn't heard about his waiver yet.

False advertising or folks jumped to conclusions, I guess.

Yeah - just finished listening to it myself - a lot of "knocking on wood" or "assuming things go as expected" comments but definitely no announcement of a waiver having been officially granted.

Now, I will say, the title of the podcast "Xavier Johnson Is Back!" could have easily have been misinterpreted by those who posted that the waiver approval was being announced on the podcast.

Knew there was no way the NCAA had this done by now.

So, can we say clickbait?

Don't know if her situation was different -- or how it was -- but I did see an Iowa State women's player had a waiver request denied. Have no idea if there are any parallels with X's story, though.

I was skeptical of any possible X announcement of getting a waiver BC had he been granted one, I highly doubted the news would've been released on a podcast recorded a day ago. IU would've sent that info out as soon as it heard from the NCAA.

You’re kidding right?

Speed: Yogi

Strength: Yogi

Handle: Yogi (Rick Pitino abandoned full court pressure against Yogi…)

Passing: Yogi

Shooting/Scoring: Yogi

the only aspect to Cupps game (and I LOVE Cupps) where he may be better is defensively and on the boards. Yogi was an underrated defender.

Yogi Ferrell was a 5* McDonalds AA…. Top 2 PG in Indiana basketball history.

Buckner might have something to say about this!

Stephanie Soares.  But she had played in 13 games out of Iowa State's games and they had no exempt games.  So she was at 13 of 28 games, or 46%.   Think it was a longshot that she would get the waiver because she was well above the exemption.

From what a poster had posted on here, Xavier would be at 11 of 31 games but just 8 of 28 of those that count, so he's at 29%.

Who did he name? I went back to 92 on sports reference and can’t find 1 person who meets those criteria.

There has to be a precedence to make the program believe XJ gets a waiver or he wasn't healthy enough. I just can't imagine we **** it up that bad.

If he wasn’t even healthy enough to make cuts by the end of the season, it would have been worth the risk.  But from what has been posted, he satisfies all the conditions to satisfy the waiver.
