They Fired Tom Allen!

The fact of the matter is we can do better. We’re at rock bottom and have nowhere to go but up. We are literally the worst Power 5 team! Unfortunately, I suspect we will be stuck with Allen for another year due to his massive buy-out.

Yeah, he was a ******* creep and an *******, but this university has shown countless times that sexual harassment was to be tolerated because standards went out the damn window and we have no semblance of common sense or human decency.  I mean, after all, remember all the **** Bob Knight was allowed to do to people for decades because he won us a few national titles?

And, guess what?  This is par for the course for most universities.  If you win games, you get away with this kind of wretched stuff until you either A) start losing or B) make a total @$$ of yourself.

I remember being super entertained when we gave up 47 points to a 3-8 Southern Illinois team. Then 55 more to a 4-8 Rutger team after being up like 4 scores in the 2nd half. Wilson sucked. Allen sucks. 

We can do better than arguing about who was the better dogs**t football coach.

He got an OC job with a much better program immediately after, so it really couldn’t have been that bad.

Anyway, I don’t want to distract from how awful Allen is. Today brings Allen to 2-20 in the Big 10 since 2020. Dismantled by Maryland and Rutgers over the past three games, with a 52-7 loss to Michigan sandwiched in between. Will we win another game this season?

Kevin Wilson was overruling athletic trainers and doctors, insisting that injured players play.  Had we kept him there would have been lawsuits.

That is pretty much the case.  The buyout is likely keeping Allen around, and even if Allen does get fired, I doubt Indiana University makes much of an effort to hire a significant coach.

Kevin Wilson sucked as a coach and probably isn't a good person. Tom Allen sucks as a coach and doesn't seem like a good person with his willingness to throw everyone under the bus instead of being accountable for the team he's in charge of.

Maybe we can beat MSU at home but I don't see us being road warriors and winning at either Illinois or PUke and don't even think about beating PSU or Wisky.

1) That was clearly hyperbole by mamasa, who has a long established posting history as a class act.

2) Tom Allen by most accounts is a pretty good guy, but in a Tom Crean hyperactive, true believer, awkward way.

3) By all accounts at this point, Tom Allen has crashed hard and irrevocably as the IU head coach.

4) But it’s not a binary choice; the comparison to Tom Allen does not need to be a nasty, alcoholic, dirtbag, ‘better but not great’ football coach like Kevin Wilson.

5) We can aspire to find someone who is a very good up and coming coach, who is not a dirtbag, and who, if they build something viable, is worthy of and gets massive incentives to stay.

The team has basically quit on the season again. We could beat Illinois or Purdue but not likely on the road. Allen is gone at the end of the season.

We have 5 more games to endure?  Have not followed as much but I felt that surely we were about done with the year considering how bad most feel about the program.
