We're not at the bottom of the barrel when it comes to the history of P5 football. We'll soon be No. 3!!!

At the end of the season, we can join a select group of schools with idiot ADs who gave idiotic contracts!

What a bunch:
1. Jimbo Fisher, Texas A&M -- $77.6M
2. Gus Malzahn, Auburn -- $21.4M
3. Tom Allen, Indiana --$20.8M  #LEO

(Funny thing, though -- Most of these schools have actually accomplished something in football.)

May be an image of football and text that says 'The most expensive firing in college football history. Largest buyouts paid in CFB A Jimbo Fisher Gus Malzahn $77.6M $21.4M Charlie Weis- Willie Taggart* $18.9M $18M Tom Herman Will Muschamp $15.4M $12.9M Todd Graham $12.8M Jim Mora Ucla $12M Larry Fedora $12M Chad Morris $10.1M Kevin Sumlin $9.9M Source: Sam Khan Jr./The Athletic Open records requests and various media reports *Offset clause prevented FSU from paying full buyout'

TAMU is on there twice too.  Even IUFB hasn't been that bad.

At least A&M tries...

That's what is common of all the schools on there: they try. IU doesn't so I'm still skeptical they'll fire Allen after the season to not just join that list but jump in at 3rd. Allen needs to go but I guess we'll see if IU actually cans him.

Now you've convinced me. He will NOT be fired.

This also indicates how much he's under-performed his contract. He signed it in 2020 and was immediately terrible in 2021 (I understand there were a ton of injuries that year). Now he's been terrible for three straight seasons. Very on point for the IU football brand. We somehow can't have nice things. EDIT: I wanted to add that I was pretty optimistic this season even though I knew starting a RS QB would be a work in progress. Now the QB is solidified and playing fairly well, the defense has decided to take the rest of the season off. I think that's the biggest issue and always has been. IU can never be good at both offense or defense in the same season or game. Very odd.

I think paying him 20M will be his justification. Same if he wins the last two. Honestly, it's probably smarter to not blow that much money unless you have a slam dunk hire lined up. It is after all, IUFB we're talking about. If people really want investment in the program, that 20M would be better spent in NIL , assistant coaches, or for the new coach.

Yeah, as much as I hate it, this is the best and most likely move. Like you said, unless we have a slam-dunk hire chomping at the bit, we have another year to dream about mediocrity. Maybe TA will decide for himself to move out/on, but I seriously doubt that will happen. What's one more year of disappointment? It's just IU football.

He should think about his health and resign. Sleep is important and lack of sleep can have a very negative impact on health. He needs to think of himself and do what would help him sleep by getting away from the pressure of being a D1 HC.

It won't happen, but I can dream.

Fire him before the sun sets

1 more week until Dolson has a short amount of time to say if Allen is staying or getting fired. And he can't really say nothing after this terrible season.
