Pagoda Posted February 10 Posted February 10 Lamar is moving up the record books in terms of 3's made. Also, it's crazy how many Steve made in the first year of the 3 pt line. And yea I know the line as closer back then, but shooting the three was a totally different thing in '86-87 and Steve did shoot 53% from deep. Amazing how RMK and Steve figured it out so quickly. You could make a totally reasonable argument that Alford was the greatest shooter in the history of CBB. Yeah, you had to run stuff for him, but with the exception of 1 game against I think Wisky where he shot 1 for a million that dude spent 4 years making everything. BannerVille and str8baller 2 Quote

Some years prior they did an experimental line just for the non-con and it was Whittman and Kitchell who pretty much shot the hell out of the ball. Again it was the old line and low volume but still kind of cool. I think for those guys, they were already shooting from out there—but only if wide open—and already expected to shoot 50%+. Alford is the best shooter I’ve ever seen in my life. Still remember his semi-state performance for New Castle against Broad Ripple (I believe that’s right). They full-court pressed him and beat the crap out of him the whole game, and he went 16-26 from the field (no 3 pointers then, but most of his shots were from that range) and 25-25 FTs for 57 points. Broad Ripple is correct. As a kid watching, he instantly became my favorite player and that is mostly true to this day. New Castle got beat in the night game by Connersville and the Heineman twins. This may not be popular - like, at all - but I gotta wholeheartedly disagree with this one. Between traveling and home games, our fans are some of the worst I've ever encountered. Students at home more than anything (which I suppose comes with the territory to an extent) and on the road...pretty much anyone is a candidate to do or say something stupid. Quote
