Matta is the first guy on my list after the ‘joke run’ guys. I would take a chance on him over Beilein. Great results at OSU. Has recruited the state well. Still relatively young (minus his back).

I really don’t think Scott is spending $10 million dollars for this guy.

Do we have any first hand accounts of his current mobility?  Seems like someone commented that he had to be helped to/from his seat at Hinkle but no idea how old that report was.  In some respects I suppose it doesn't matter because  that would surely be one of Dolson's top  issues to address if he was serious about Matta.

I generally agree.  But kids know Conley and most know Oden as well.  But I agree with the rest.  Not my choice.

Mike Conley is the all-star starting point guard of the team with the best record in the NBA. I think kids know who he is. He also coached D'Angelo Russell. Kids know who Greg Oden is too. They know him for being injured all the time, but they know him. They were on a downward trend on his way out because of his physical issues, not because the guy forgot to coach. If his back is ok he would be a tremendous hire.

Conley didn’t get voted as an all star, he’s a replacement. This is his first all star appearance in all his years in the league.

Kids might not Greg oden. Basketball players do. Heck basketball players may remember seeing him play in college when they were young

Conley is still the point guard on the 1 seed in the West. Teenage basketball players know who he is. I very much doubt that high-level basketball recruits have no idea who Greg Oden is. Even if they don't know who he is, who cares. Matta won 5 conference titles and 4 conference tournaments in 13 seasons at Ohio State. A football school where basketball is second fiddle. We've won 5 conference titles since 1989, and we have never won the conference tournament. The only reason to be concerned about him is his health. It's a big concern certainly, but the guy didn't forget how to coach in the past four years.

My 14yo son knows Oden and definitely knows Conley.
 

He isn’t a top candidate to me but he gets the edge over Beilein and Fife.  Near the bottom of my potentials list.

Not sure if you're joking but Matta's best year was in fact the year Oden and Conley were there. Lost in championship game to Florida under Donovan.

I wasn't joking.  There was a 4 year run well after Oden where the Bucks won 30 games every year and received no less than a #2 seed.  Oden and Conley were a one hit wonder.
