I was told this morning from a friend who is tangentially connected that it’ll be McCollum. I’m not happy to report this and I’m no insider so I have no issue with this being dismissed by anyone or everyone on this board.  This is a friend who is not prone to hyperbole or gossip.  I’m confident that he 100% believes it.  He said, as you’d suspect, that they are waiting for Drake’s season to be done to announce it.

I don’t think this comports with the email tidbit from yesterday. But, I figured I share it.

I am starting to waver on my seat on the Brad train. Just seems like a lot of people are saying it’s not him and seems like a weird vibe around idea of him past couple days. I’m still in my seat, but my eyes are looking out the window to get off….someone give me something to stay on lol

I will choose to believe that McCollum is, in fact, signed and sealed via a contingent contract that states he will be coach if, and only if, something falls through with Our Guy at the very end.

McCollum makes perfect sense to me.

Occam's razor, also known as the principle of parsimony, suggests that when faced with competing hypotheses or explanations, the simplest one is usually the most likely correct one. 

For me? Ben McCollum is our "Occam's razor candidate."

I think this is true. Hopefully it is a big splashy hire, but I think historically the blind test would say that big school hires winningest young-ish mid major guy is the most likely outcome in these searches. There are exceptions but for better or worse that is generally the progression of coaches in general.

Crush at lower level, prove for 1-3 years you can crush at mid-major, get your shot at high major.
