Our random new guy a day with hot takes streak is at like five if you’re scoring at home. I’m just picturing Dolson & Harper sitting in their office saying who should we throw at them now? I got one Mark Turgeon haha Iufan93 and OKHOOSIER 2

Stuhoo Posted February 17 Posted February 17 Tom Crean, who most definitely would know: ”The number one requirement for (being the head coach at) a place like Indiana is that you better have been (figuratively) punched in the mouth many times in your life… and I’m not talking about dealing with a three game losing streak.” coonhounds, BtownStrength, fwgreenway and 2 others 4 1

This process is going to take a while. As I mentioned earlier, I don't believe we will know who the new coach is until the national media breaks the story. I remember when everyone was made to believe Lon Kruger was going to be our coach at one point. Sampson came out of nowhere. Crean came out of nowhere. This will likely be the same thing. This is just my opinion. Like I said, I've not heard a single name of who we are targeting. FWIW, I have what could at best be described at loose connections, and they’ve also heard nothing. I knew we had $6m+ for NIL as a reference for knowledge last offseason. That said, it’s far more fun to say Brad Stevens until he goes on camera himself and says no.

I think a Tom Crean 2.0 update could hold it's own against some of these candidates, taking into account learning from one's own mistakes.

Stuhoo Posted February 17 Posted February 17 Just now, Juwan Moye said: So let’s talk Rick Pitino. Not an option. Not an option for IU to hire a 72 year old, and not an option for Rick to want to leave St. John’s at this point in his life. But his 42 year old kid is a helluva coach. A coach that as an overmatched 34 year old was nevertheless B1G Coach of the year, and as a now still very young coach has his team at 22-4 in a tough conference. I don't know much about him, other than that he rose really quick. Have to be impressive to move that vertical in the time he did, and was clearly earmarked to do big things in the department. Think Dolson has a good team around him...hoping we knock this out of the park.
