Sucks that we’ll probably miss out on Dusty because Scott was too scared to fire Woodson last spring.

It wasn’t Scott but QBall!

He wanted to. QB interfered - again.

Like I said, scared. Scott didn’t want to ruffle any feathers, so he brought Woodson back for year four. The yes man did what they put him in the role to do, and the guy we could’ve gotten is now sitting alone in first place 70% of the way through the conference season.

With 6 games to go in the season plus two tournaments, I'd think that Dusty is focused on the team and not any new contract with us or Michigan... pretty sure anybody is talking to his agent at this point... and his agent can play the stall game if he's worth his cut.

Exactly!!!

If you've been here any amount of time you know there is 99% chance that wasn't the case.

Who does Scott get to blame if he screws up the next basketball hire too?

I thought you didn't want him because he was a mid-major coach?

I didn’t. But I’m just a message board poster, not the guy paid a million dollars a year to, among other things, identify a successful basketball coach and hire him.

From what and why didnt Ryno answer?

Think about it this way. In year 1 at a football school he is closing in on winning the Big Ten when he had 0 expectations this year. He has already laid a foundation for success. He is contemplating leaving after winning a Big Ten title and coming home to a blender of a situation where he is now the most scrutinized employee in the state of Indiana with a fan base starving for success. If it doesnt work out immediately people will be calling for his head in no time.

hopefully enough to lure him away...

It will be!!!  Michigan don’t want to pay their basketball coach as much as what we will offer

Ok, we could be a dumpster fire!!!

Plus, as has been mentioned, there are a few institutional things (admissions, NIL) that make the IU program more competitive than UM. Hopefully, that plus Dusty's roots here makes this an appealing jump.

I don't know if he wants the fishbowl that is IU.  He can win big at UM and not be under a microscope for everything that isn't just so.

Gotcha!   But it will force UM to pay dearly for him!

Would not be shocked if he wanted to, but the big $$& doaners threatened closing their wallets if he did

The Herbert/Sampson/Greenspan fiasco should’ve been enough for any remotely competent AD at IU to know you always have to do what you know is right and let the chips fall where they may.  But Dolson like Greenspan is a yes man.

That is why I have been saying...either Dusty wants to be here or he doesn't!  It won't be a money issue!

NIL could be a game changer in all this, I’m conflicted on how this will go!  I still think DM could be our next head coach; however, the fishbowl of the IU basketball program is, could pose another issue.

I think we should make a side bet. You get Dusty, I’ll take Brad. It’s a win-win

You are firm on that again this time? Let's Go!
