His separation agreement almost certainly has a non-disparagement clause that would prevent this by putting his buyout at risk if he goes off.

Even with that, I would not give him the mic — could result in some bad “optics.”

While I tend to agree here, Woody is clearly either living in pure delusion or make it as painful as possible mode. It is clear from multiple games since the refiring he is willing to say anything to be seen in a sympathetic light, and is not telling these guys “off the record.” If he gets up and tries to do the they done me wrong song and dance he’s going to get boo’d off the court and he will deserve it. My guess is he doesn’t, but keeps talking to any media ear that will listen to paint IU and the fanbase in a poor light.

I was thinking about the McDermott thing more, and I 100% believe ScottyWithaB, because I have serious doubts Woody has even the slightest idea who Greg McDermott is lol. The name likely means nothing to Woody, which to me, makes his info even more believable. The only way Woody says the words Greg McDermott is if someone leaked it to him.

He doesn’t know the name of his assistants some days so he doesn’t know who Greg McDermott is. Even if someone told him his name he wouldn’t remember it

I'll be in attendance so I'm all for letting him just free balling lol. Entertain me.

That’s right! We want blood! We want a spectacle! lol. I’m with ya. I want a horribly awkward 15 minutes of Woody slowly losing his ****, getting louder and louder and says “I ain’t leaving. They can’t make me!” ….then he gets dragged out by campus police. A man can dream.

I’ve heard they are worried about senior day because he’s told people he wants to tell his side.

If I were Dolson I would tell Woody I'm speaking first and preemptively contradict anything he might say, and then congratulate him on his basketball career and wish him a happy retirement

Creighton NET

2025-39

2024-11

2023-17

2022-51

2021-27

iu has never finished a year with a NET under 30.

How many of those years would you find acceptable at IU over the next 5?

Just got off the line with a friend that's close to CMW. He said both Drew and Stevens are definitely out. Also no Beard due to off court history concerns. He states Greg McDermott is one name that hasn't been floating around that Dolson is focused on.

Going to have to say that Scott Dolson sure as heck isn't sharing info on who the next coach is going to be with Woodson at this point.

Without looking up 32 years of results, I would most likely sub that 5-year run for any 5 years in my lifetime.

What a day! You guys have covered a ton of content.  You might want to slow down, we only have a couple of weeks left of time to fill.

1) The religion conversation fascinates me.  One's perspective on the topic is almost always significantly (maybe exclusively) colored by their personal interactions with people who claim religious belief.  I have no issue with any religious person coaching the team.  I honestly don't have an issue with a coach encouraging the players to engage in religious practices.  As long as it isn't mandated.  Interesting side note, look at Ohio State and Notre Dame by most accounts, significant portions of their football rosters essentially had a religious revival during the season.  It didn't seem to get in the way of performance.  These players are not high schoolers, they are adults.  They can make decisions about what they want to believe or not believe without being sheltered.

2. I can only imagine Mark Few leaving for a couple of very unlikely reasons.  a) inside pressure from Gonzaga. b) An up and coming heir apparent on his staff that is potentially being wooed to another coaching gig. c) both and.  These don't seem reasonable.  I think a National Championship at Indiana, in many ways, would contradict what he has worked to prove his entire career: it is possible to win a title at any school no matter how small.  He ain't leaving the west coast.

3) @Scott_b is taking a lot of fire, but as some of you on this board know a member of the coaching staff who is not a Woodson man has been saying that Stevens had a meeting with Dolson and told him no before 2/14.  So Scott's claim is not without supporting information.

4) I will still enjoy Scott performing YMCA behind the bench at tonight's game.

5) There is talk among the staff that a certain coach is being lobbied for heavily by Dolson.  Think James Harden.

You weren’t here 4 years ago when I got it wrong. People wanted my home address. :-) but I have not heard of anyone saying no. Also I’m just a guy who shares what he hears not an “insider “

Can only imagine. I said I felt word would leak by this weekend. But as you know, it’s been way quieter than expected. Sure I’ll be run out of town in no time lol. Again, appreciate all the info you bring here

I was going to say the same thing. 0% chance. Doubt he even knows who Doug is even though he coached against him in the NBA.

He acquitted himself well in the tourney those years so I imagine IU fans would be happy with that for a little while.

Best case for McDermont is he’s a Shaka type thing where he either learned from his initial failure and/or found a job that is a better fit. Still I’d want to know why he failed at ISU and why that’s been alleviated at Creighton and how that translates to IU.

Success become expectations at a place like IU and making the second weekend like he has at Creighton will quickly become “why hasn’t he made a Final Four?” And I’d want to know he’s capable of that at IU.

Imagine watching IU the last 9 years where you watched 1 season where your team finished above .500 in conference (4 games over .500) and turning your nose up at a coaches last 5 years where he won 68 conference games in a top 4 conference and say nah he is a mid major coach.  lol

I can appreciate that some will be content to just be good, but some want more, & more importantly think that given the current landscape of transfers, NIL, & our resources that better than the results McDermott has put up are reasonable expectations & quick turnarounds are possible.  I also happen to believe that retreads(couldn’t hack it at other jobs like ISU in McDermott’s case) should be dq’d from our search, but get that some will disagree.  Basing our acceptable future results shouldn’t be based on comparisons to an historically bad period for IUBB imo…

So SD pull an 8 mile rap like M did in the final battle? I like it.

Your choice between McDermott and Chris Collins?

Collins, because I think they're both good coaches, but Collins is younger.

Not a fan of hiring an older coach, because I don't trust IU to hire another coach again in a few years. They've been so bad at hiring basketball coaches, if they DO actually get the hire right, I don't want it to be some guy who is going to be gone in just a few years.

No way do I trust them to hire TWO good basketball coaches in a row...

Lawrence Frank? D’Antoni? I can’t think of any names I like. Tye Lue I guess. We’ve been chasing the wrong NBA wunderkind lol.
