General Coach Candidate News

Recommended Posts

I'm sure we're all aware it most definitely could happen; but what if we lose tonight? What's the atmosphere during speeches?

Don't what someone to coach that's just ******* hungry for it that has yet to accomplish what other coaches were talking about already has done?

I'm not too too hung up on a coach's age, especially not after the last 8 years. I'd gladly take an older coach that can right the ship fast and stabilize the program for about 10 years. IU isn’t in a position to risk someone like McCollum that has never had any high major experience of any sort; Cignetti isn’t a good comparison as he played P5 and was an assistant at P5 program (including under Saban at Alabama) before becoming a HC.

Frankly I'd be thrilled with Tony Bennett, his offenses were efficient, but that's not happening.

Bennett’s offense with IU’s war chest feels like a Ferrari with a Yugo engine

If mccollum is the next coach - which I’m pretty sure he won’t be - then any chance of this program being a top 20 or even top 25 destination is out the window. You don’t select someone hoping and convincing yourself they’re the next Bo Ryan - when there is at least an equal chance he’s a Licklighter or Archie - to operate a multi million dollar program with top of the line resources. He’s not the hire to make at this time.

What I worry about with McCollum is how quickly he could lose the fan base once the losing starts. Basically what happened with Archie imo.

I don't think Archie ever truly recovered after we got drilled at home by IPFW and Indiana State in in his first nonconference season.

Those losses were reality checks for a lot of fans, just seemed like any sort of expectations people had of him taking us where Crean couldn't instantly evaporated.

One or two of those type of losses, people will be thinking oh boy what did we do hiring a guy who just 2 years ago was coaching against schools like Rogers State, Ft Hays State, and Pittsburg State in DII.

That makes sense. And also would Scott stake his salary on McCollum? I wouldn’t but he’s the one making that money.

Regarding #4,  Eddies great and certainly recognizable, won’t argue his status in the top 5.

But these guys are just as recognizable off the top of my head.  That’s an easy 10:

Jerry Garcia

Stevie Ray Vaughn

Slowhand

Duane Allman

Trey Anastasio

Jimi Hendrix

Kirk Hammett

Angus Young

Billy Gibbons

David Gilmour

Add Merle Travis, Leo Kottke, and Lindsey Buckingham (screw you Mr Charlie- lol) for me.

Note to all. If in your bosses office and you share your screen to his tv to display a presentation, make sure you stop sharing before going back to your office where you think you are catching up on BtownBanner posts in secret.

This is great. Whenever I share my screen on Zoom, I have to triple check I closed my BTB tab

Genuinely appreciate you sharing. Not making fun, but I’m gonna be saying or thinking “goo Hoosiers” a lot, a whole lot

“Goo Hoosiers” sounds a lot like a DelCo accent. Philly/Baltimore kinda trashy accent lmao... We def have a few of those fans. Pretty funny hearing the way they talk at the PSU game in Philly this year lol
