I feel like the religion thing is going to spiral since religion (and especially evangelical Christianity) is politically coded these days.

That said, I haven’t seen anyone on here be anti-religious. Stevens is very outspoken about his faith; so is the coach he hired for the Celtics. No one holds this against Stevens.

But Drew is a different kind of Christian—one who sees the influence of God in every single part of his life (and also tries to serve God in every single part). It’s worth being honest about the different kinds of religion and how Drew’s is much more extreme than what most Americans practice.

But getting substantive news about who athletic director Scott Dolson and IU president Pamela Whitten will hire to replace Mike Woodson when the Hoosiers’ season ends has been more difficult than shooting three-point shots in a hurricane.

*Fanfiction*

Hoosiers make a run to the Final Four, hire Brad Stevens after they punch their ticket. Stevens serves as Woodson's first assistant, helping lead Indiana to their first Title since 1987!

And Woodson stages a sit-in in his office until he's extended.

With all of this religious talk, I have to pass this on.  I happen to have lunch with a client today and found out they were Cliff Marshall's first cousin (or so they said).  He told me that Cliff tried to get a job at UK and was later told not to since there would be a coaching change and nothing for sure with a new coach.  The main thing is that he wants to get back close to home where he wants to be a preacher around his family.  Didn't know he was from that area but if he wants to be a preacher and he is on the staff....  Well, can we have that.  JKJK

Anyway, he said the athletic department and kids all love him there and he is hopeful that he will remain on staff with the new coach coming in.

So if Cliff stays and Drew comes, does that become "too much" religion? Asking for a friend.

If you are arguing we shouldn't want Drew, not sure what to say.

"very real backlash" what does this even mean?

I'm not saying that.

Let's get off this religious debate, it's too divisive. Let's get back to something we can all agree on....Chris Beard........

Thoughts on him?

Lol. I'm convinced unless it's stevens there will be reasons given on every other coach and why not to hire him. I never thought religion would be one but was proven wrong today.

Mr. Unexpected is his way to cover rumors he is hearing that he can't put in print.

That is at least a good honest article about the state of the search.

Is this a bandwidth issue? C’mon mods.

not bandwidth... it's a forum software function... might be configurable... 500K (.5MB) is a bit tight, but obviously, doable.

I got the same takeaway from this article. He is hearing from insiders that they think our coach will be someone not on these lists? If there was any realistic name he was hearing he would print it. The truth is, anyone outside the very comprehensive list he has in his article would be completely out of left field. There are no “veterans wanting a challenge” that IU would want that are not already on that list.

I think Bozich and probably some others are hearing some variation of “Scott’s got his guy, and I’m not telling you who it is”.
