HoosierInParadise Posted February 28 Posted February 28 Any talk about it being hard to pull a coach from their current job if it is a good or decent situation is ridiculous. IU needs to go out and pay a great coach big money to come. A message needs to be sent around the sports world that IU isn't messing around anymore. Bottom line is that big money will get a great coach here, Stevens or not. IU can't cheap out on this hire... Henryville Hoosier, thebigweave and go iu bb 3

Yep, and I get it, I’d initially be underwhelmed too with all the names being floated and not having P5 experience. But he’s a Cig type hire and a hell of a coach. If UK and UL had to go down the list, why do we think we won’t have to?
Uspshoosier Posted February 28 Posted February 28 15 minutes ago, 94Bulldog said: Sure I realize that. I purposely left it off because it will instantly cause people to say no way since it’s not a P5. I bet @USPShoosier knows who I’m talking about. Without looking John Becker was my first thought but I think he is over 50. Good question they I would have to think about. Got to deliver mail all day though
pumpfake Posted February 28 Posted February 28 I expect today will bring increased activity and interest, like the last two have. Anything of substance or definite? Not likely. By the way: How in the world did Maryland let Mark Turgeon get away? EPIC BLUNDER! theriverpilot 1

Is anyone else talking about Brownell??? Collins??? Buzz?? As an option for, say, UNC, or when Texas opens up? No because they are hopefully reaching higher. yes, Collins would do better than Woodson but he’ll so would Altman, Hoiberg, or Willard. I personally don’t think that means we should hire them. How many schools would hire Herbert Davis? They too will take big swings and likely go with lower options. They are actually dealing with needing to improve their NIL. Look who Kentucky hired. I don't think it makes sense to say look how far IU has falling by comparing it to a hypothetical UNC coaching search. Edited February 28 by IUBtown MikeRoberts 1
maharkn Posted February 28 Posted February 28 Don't think we should hire a coach who is in a fight just to make the B1G tourney. He is a good coach for Northwestern just not someone I think would take IU to the level we want it to be Loaded Chicken Sandwich, P92, VFury and 1 other 4
OKHOOSIER Posted February 28 Posted February 28 4 minutes ago, Ghost of Rick Majerus said: We are on the same page. All those involved realize this is a make or break hire. Better times are ahead. For me I also don’t think it could reasonably get worse. It’d simply be really bad luck to miss completely and find someone worse than Woody and Archie. We haven’t been awful under Woody, so the program is in decent shape and we have all the institutional resources to be good, so I feel good about it for the most. There are certainly names that would be underwhelming, but anyone committed to actually doing the work necessary to be a college coach will be a breath of fresh air after Woody. True. He became a victim of his own success so when he really started slipping (and he did) they got restless and booted him. Barnes resurgence at UT is actually kind of crazy to me because he looked washed at the end of his Texas run. But those are still 3 straight big time hires, with a slight ding for the Shaka hire for going the mid major route. For a football school. People love Austin, though. Home Jersey 1
Popular Post Chris007 Posted February 28 Popular Post Posted February 28 OK so I didn't miss anything last night. Wonder why it has been so quiet. I haven't been able to get much info from people close to the situation since Feb 14 morning. Even when I do they will never use the candidate by name.
