Highlighted by the fact that he had to start 4 D2 transfers…..And again, pace being used against him without any useful context, whatsoever. They get more shots than their opponents and are far more efficient than their opponents. They shoot almost exclusively 3’s and shots at the rim. With Cronin we know our floor. We also know we aren’t getting an elite coach. After his recent comments, I don’t think he handles the fishbowl well. He’s beating Miami earlier when they had Larranaga, and has road wins at Vanderbilt and Kansas State. What he’s doing this season alone is far more impressive than what Cronin is doing at UCLA. With Cronin we are very likely a continuation of the current iteration of UCLA… that’s fine. But that’s not what we’ve all been hungry for. We’ve been wanting a climb back to being elite. Our fans simply don’t get it. We think that we are going to go steal an elite winning coach from another school. That’s not happening! That line of thinking is what cost us Dusty May. Whoever takes the shot first is going to reap the rewards. I’m lukewarm on Cronin btw. Wouldn’t be upset, wouldn’t be thrilled. I’d bet my house that we’ll be hiring a new coach inside 5 years. Well said!

His last 6 years, Crean finished 5th, 1st, 8th, 7th, 1st and 10th in the B1G. Like everything else about his tenure at IU, he was massively schizophrenic and inconsistent. When he won the B1G, he proved that he could never get past the Sweet 16. His recruiting was also massively trending down at that point. Crean had shown the world who he was by then - a mediocre coach. Don't forget that Crean was one quirky dude. realTomCrean 1

I hope we can get someone better. Who is to say that going to IU isn’t the thing that makes the youngest active coach to get to 500 wins to become an elite coach. The guy is already considered a top 15 coach in the game today be some outlets. Cronin wanted no part of the job the last it was open so not sure if anything has change on that front. Not sure why any sitting B1G and SEC would want to come to a rebuild opportunity of a mid level B1G team (results wise)if they have it rolling elsewhere. History tells you IUs coach will come from a level down thebigweave, Home Jersey and cybergates 3
TTT Posted February 22 Posted February 22 No talk of winning Big Ten and National Championships anymore? With coaching salary/s, NIL, Fans, Gym and facilities, campus, Bloomington community, state, national???

Popular Post Uspshoosier Posted February 22 Popular Post Posted February 22 IU could literally get told no by the first 10 coaches on their list and the 11th one would put them in better position nationally then they have been the last 4 years with the coach with 0 college basketball coaching experience when he got the job skhoosier2, cybergates, RoadRage and 22 others 25

Uspshoosier Posted February 22 Posted February 22 Hate Brownwell all you want but maybe hiring a coach that respects the history of IU basketball and knows how important the state of Indiana can be to recruiting might not be a bad thing. He isn’t going to be the first or even the 5th choice however there are plenty of other crappy routes IU could go. Getting a sitting ACC coach wouldn’t be the end of the world. Give me a lifer and grinder and I will give them a chance to prove me or anyone else wrong Stuhoo, Solsberryberries, Ghost of Rick Majerus and 1 other 3 1
