They should be!  We need some journo to FOIA these rev share contracts.  If I get bored maybe I will do a FOIA, it's not hard.

Don't get me wrong, I'll be ecstatic if we end up with Brad. My voice will become hoarse from all the enthusiastic yelling I'll do.

It's just that Dusty took a total nothing FAU program, and used what resources he had to build a team that made the Final Four and another NCAAT appearance.

FAU had nothing. No fan support. High school sized gym. No history. No tradition of winning. 

Butler had always been a solid program long before Stevens got there. 

The year before Stevens got to Butler, they went to the Sweet 16. 

In the prior 11 seasons before Stevens, Butler made the NCAAT 6 times, including 2 Sweet 16 appearances. 

Now compare that to what Dusty had to work with. In the prior 10 seasons before he arrived, the only postseason FAU had was an NIT berth in 2010-2011. 

FAU averaged 11.5 wins per season.

Then under Dusty they average 21 wins per season. 

And oh by the way, he's taken over an 8-win UM team and now has them on track to win the B1G.

You had me at “What Dusty May had done”!

Us RMK fans are getting long in the tooth - less and less fans remember even that 1991 team. We haven't had a coach since that's created a legacy. Crean a bit, I guess, but it was still too up and down and he needed a deeper run then sweet 16 to insure that imho. But the point being is - this feels like our time to make or break this brand to a certain degree. Very dramatic I know.

I'm sure I felt this way the last 3 hires - but this time just seems heavier - do you all feel that way? I guess in the NIL age you don't have to wait 3 or 4 years to evaluate so you can 'fail fast' but can we afford to do that again? SD has got to be feeling this. 

 

 

I 100% feel this way. We can't miss this time. We've had a couple of bad hires and the fan base is getting really restless. Lots of people are older and wondering if they will see another good run in their lifetime. Lots of younger fans who haven't ever seen a good run are starting to find something else to do with their time. Scott knows all of this and I'm sure does feel the pressure. I know some don't but I trust Scott.

BINGO. Indiana HAS to get this hire right. This is probably the most attractive this job has been since maybe 2006 when Davis stepped down at the end of the season. I teach and I am stunned that a lot of the students (middle school age) are IU fans. Think about the kids IU will be recruiting in the '26, '27, and '28 classes. They were in preschool when the WatShot happened. The only "good" memory they might have is Yogi leading IU to the B1G title/Sweet 16 and Trayce's senior year. 

Why I think they have to hire a proven guy. Not an Archie Miller like hire.

If it’s not BS, it likely never was.  Not sure I buy that he’d run away from something he really wants to do, with 10’s of millions on the line, because people were leaking info.  Yeah, it sucks & would be aggravating, but what does it affect or change once the announcement is made?  Someone will have to help convince me why that would torpedo his future…
