Does anyone think it won't be Dusty?

7y-50m and incentives?

I think he has a signing bonus of 1.5 ish to repay if he leaves before April 1.That shouldn't hold us back. Buyout is low.

He's not everyone's #1 choice but probably in everyone's top 3. Then we can start the speculation about the roster.

I’m coming around on him. Even at a slower pace his team makes baskets. They average 3 less points than IU. But the shots they take they make. 50/70/37 on the season vs IU is at 46/72/32

I think I just got there before you did.  I'd be interested in seeing how he'd do with a higher level of talent.   I'd be fine with him but I'm starting to come around on Brad Brownell.    High school team mate of Calbert Cheaney opens some doors for me.

I had a thought today that is an extension for him was going to happen, it's as likely as not to have happened already.

I've got a name for everyone that wants a young guy that can coach.

Ben Howlett at West Liberty D2

Great coach.  The one thing I'd say is I don't know that Indiana is in a position (with this hire needing to hit and hit big) to give a guy his first D1 job.    Especially after doing so with Mike Davis and watching that dumpster fire.

Tony Bennett?

Timing would seem to be wrong. He just retired less than 6mos ago, and I would assume he’d need at least a year off before someone could coax him back.

I personally would love that hire and he’d be at the top, or near the top, of my list. He won the ACC 6x and Conf tourney twice in a league where Roy and K were rolling and he never had better than 3rd best talent. We would be looking at a next decade of conf titles, perennial top 4 finishes, top 5ish tourney seeds, and a great chance at hanging another banner.

I don’t think Indiana could do much better, but so many things in life come down to timing and it’s hard to see how it would work out.

I think if they offered him an extension today, he would still put it off until the end of the season.  As far as I know, there has been talks but nothing official.

BS most like off the table, ;) ;), I think Dusty will be our coach.

The longer it goes without him getting an extension the more interesting it gets for us.

I agree although I don't exactly know what to expect as far as how that's being approached during peak season when you really want him focusing on finishing this season strong heading into March. I would assume most of the time when a school wants to extend a head coach or rework a contract they'll just wait until the end of the season to dig into the details. Obviously it's Dusty's agent doing most of the talking and listening at this point but it would be really interesting to know whether or not Dusty has told them he'd rather wait until the season's over to work on it.

If he wants to hold off to the end of the season I'd say that means he's taking a really hard look at Indiana or possibly even already made up his mind.

I think that is generally true, but I was chewing on it more and thought it might actually be in his interest to play it out. If Dusty makes a run in the tournament, his bargaining power both with us and Michigan will be through the roof. Likely it is already far beyond someone of his career because of us waiting a year too long, but he goes out and wins the B1G and makes runs in BTT and NCAAs he will essentially be able to name his price.

As long as he doesn't sign with UM it is a good thing, but the longer this goes the pricier it gets IMO.
