There will be jubilation from many, angst from others. Then acceptance. Then the portal lottery will be the attention grabber. We will win the portal and spend months predicting our success. Then season begins, hopefully with positive results for a change. Do we expect the AD to speak before the presser for the new coach? I don’t. Dave from Dayton 1

If he wants to coach his Alma mater and bring them back to greatness the timeline doesn’t really matter Probably, he could’ve kept the band together this year had he stayed at FAU though. That’s what I don’t understand about him leaving last year. Maybe he doesn’t want the IU job at all and didn’t want to be at FAU this year when the IU job did inevitably open up?

Just seems unlikely to me, but the heart wants what the heart wants and if we don’t bunk this hire it may be Dusty’s only opportunity to be the coach here. I’m sure that counts for something. I truly think this is the only job in the country he’d leave Michigan for and that’s solely because he’s from Indiana and his family is all here.

But actually, you know, the whole thing's gotten so crazy because we had a couple coaches that did it. Tony [Bennett] and coach [Jim] Larranaga. They did it. Leonard [Hamilton]. The coach I replaced, it happened to him during the season. I don't like to see that. "As far as me, I would never comment on a coaching situation. It would be wildly inappropriate because I’m the son of a coach, and the way I look at it is that Mike Woodson’s the coach at Indiana. Now, that man’s coaching his basketball team, and he was a national champion. I happen to know him. I know Kenya Hunter on his staff extremely well for many years and have tremendous respect for their kids and their team. "To me, nobody should say anything that distracts anything with them with that. So I just think it would be wildly inappropriate, mostly for what I said, my respect for coach Woodson. He’s over there coaching his team. That’s all that anybody needs to – I understand you guys gotta do your job and ask. That’s my stance on that stuff.” damn you for posting that. I was and am against Cronin. He has a long history, i know much at Cincy without a ton of resources, but i don't see anything that really sticks out. This quote makes me appreciate him a little more and i don't like it. Hes extremely unlikeable for whatever reason, again quit it. Edited February 15, 2025 by IUBtown 8bucks 1

Idk getting this job isn’t a guarantee. Michigan and Louisville both wanted him last year and are still two of the best jobs in the country. I’d rather have that guarantee also if i were him. Dolson could’ve easily fired Woodson last year to him. I don’t blame dusty one bit for taking a promotion

I’d say his final 4 team was the worst in the 3 year stretch from 20-23. His team this year is also top 25 by every metric. So that’s 4 in 6 years of teams id be happy with No shot 4 of those teams were championship level, maybe 1.5. The FF team wasn't his best team, at all. The one championship level team he had was excellent, I enjoyed watching them.. but his 6 years at UCLA look about like Creans last 6 years. It's just not enough at UCLA and Indiana. VFury 1

This is the general coach candidate news thread and it is dominated by talk about 1 non candidate and attempts for others to have other discussions are being shut down. i haven’t criticized anyone on here, i just have empathy for those that come here to get general coach candidate news and aren’t able to do that because of the Stevens army that has developed and wanted to snuff out all other talk. To be fair, the trolls drive more round and round about the Stevens topic, it’s much less them trying to discuss other coaches as it is dunking on people. So it is self defeating and drives more Stevens nonsense. We’ve had plenty of discussions about other coaches. Nobody is snuffing out talk of other coaches, they’re snuffing out condescending snark. Huge difference IMO. BannerVille, thebigweave and Pagoda 3

I have not seen other discussions being shut down in this thread, plenty of good back and forths about other candidates. No gripes with your posts at all, didn’t mean to come off that way. We have the threads with polls on 40 other coaches. Because of the nature of this Stevens infatuation, it’s easier to contain the non-Stevens talk IMO… either way this should all be going out like a wet fart soon. 6 more weeks til an announcement hopefully thebigweave, Ryno6284, CSP and 2 others 5

In 23-24 they were third overall in kenpom with top 20 both. That’s championship level. In 22-23 they were number 11 in kenpom with 12 and 16 efficiency ratings respectively.
