Would not be a fan of a Cronin hire either. I don't think it moves the needle much

not at all... 6 years at a blueblood-ish school and he's had 1 championship-caliber team. Final Fours at UCLA are literally given to you.

But Dusty May and Brad Stevens who hasn't coached collegiately in over a year do?

Not sure I follow this logic.

Of the guys who would potentially leave their jobs to come to IU, Cronin is at or very near the top of the list.

Anyone else share my feeling that this time just feels different compared to the last 4 times? The national media isn’t mocking IU or brushing the job off like usual. They’re actually fluffing it up.

There’s a noticeable shift in narrative, with more buzz about how big of a deal this job really is.

Dolson is running point….. I don’t know…. I just have a strong intuition that we’re going to land a big name.

Just out of curiosity, what do fans think is a BIG NAME/HOME RUN? Take Stevens out of the equation, is MAY a big name?

Relevance?

But.... sitting here today, taking out off-the-court stuff.... you're saying with a straight face Cronin is a better basketball coach than Beard?

You find off the court conduct irrelevant?

Joe Paterno says where were you when I needed you.

Why would I take away the fact that there is a high likelihood he embarrasses and/or gets a lawsuit against the university sending this program further down the sh*tter away from his positional value as a candidate?

Big(er) name. He'd be Tier 2 for me.

IU as a program is past the quick fix faze in my opinion and that’s where most are getting hung up on.  In their opinion IU is a quick fix away from being back on top.

And this is why we shuffle coaches every Leap year.

no it's irrelevant some random list didn't list Beard.... please follow along.

Answer the question ... who's a better basketball coach Cronin or Beard?

That is what I put in a multiple part post but no one answered that.. ie..if he didn't have IU ties, would he be as high up for consideration?

Yes, he is. He took FAU to a final four. Can recruit. Coaches a modern offense. Young to stay around a while. Louisville and Michigan were in a race to hire him.

with a loaded deck at UCLA, he isn't meeting expectations....

At cinci he coached in a mickey mouse league and had very little tourney success

What do you mean he's not meeting expectations at UCLA?

For me people need to stop worrying about moving the needle and hire someone that actually can come in here and build the program back. Cronin would do that.   His history says IU would be competing in top half of the conference something IU hasn’t done on a consistent basis in a long time.   If your floor as a coach for hiring cycle is Cronin then IU should be just fine.   IU as a program is past the quick fix faze in my opinion and that’s where most are getting hung up on.  In their opinion IU is a quick fix away from being back on top.  I disagree for me IU needs a grinder that brings back a winning culture.  If that’s a white whale awesome, if that’s former manager that has proven he can make it to the Final 4 great, however if it’s a grinder like Cronin that turns it around then let’s ride

We have won so many off-seasons... we don't need to move the needle, win the press conference, energize the fanbase... we need to hire a coach that wins and has manageable skeletons in their closet. If Cronin had the RMK connection Beard does, some Indiana fans would crawl through glass to hire him. Their resumes are basically equal.
