It’d be hard to turn down a dream job.  It’s interesting because both Stevens and May have IU as their dream jobs.  Personally, I don’t see Stevens turning down IU again.  This would probably be the end of that if he doesn’t pull the trigger.

Hey guys wanted to share some info I was told. Going to code this Intel/be vague to protect my source so it may sound odd:

My roommate from decades ago is on our BoT and he or she told me that from a meeting with someone inside the athletic program that Stevens has mentioned he will not be coaching in college for the foreseeable future. Came off very much as if he did come back it would be for IU but that it is college basketball in general. I was told the next in line for the talk was dusty who we will meet with next Monday due to schedule issues. The meeting will not be with Dusty but with agents around him who will share his plans and what he is looking for (salary, NIL, contract structure, overall plan for the program, support from the top, transition plan, assistant coach budget, etc). Until that meeting occurs we will not have much new info. The stevens info may get leaked over the next week or two however they are trying to keep quiet on that front.

Also, listened to Rothstein at Lunch in his podcast with Little Dick Pitino.  Rothstein absolutely hammers Indiana calling it a bad job pretty much.  Seems to call out the fans. Seemed awfully harsh in tone.   I’m not sure what his deal is with Indiana.

Did he happen to mention what an absolutely dreadful hire Mike Woodson was from the very beginning? Of course not.

It's always our fault when our coaches suck and we let them hear it.

Sounds about right.  May always seems like the most likely. But now we will have to “Over” pay because we didn’t pull the trigger last year.  Can’t get out of our own way half the time.

They definitely will give offer to Stevens, since this is probably his last chance. I don’t think it will be Stevens anyways, but it would be a sight to see.

While yes I am not happy about waiting this year to go for a new coach I do think at the end of the day regardless of how much we will pay dusty which I have zero info on that part of it, that we will have plenty of money for NIL and great ACs

We didnt even get into serious conversation regarding $'s with Stevens. He flat out doesn't want to go back to college which I can't blame. Nothing surprising but info I have that I thought I should share.

That's interesting if true. I will say that the info circulating today is definitely different than that. But if that info is being sent around I'm guessing it is for good reason.

What I will say is this: if someone is saying Stevens is still a chance it does NOT mean they are lying as during coaching searches the athletic department says different things to different people as to not reveal what is truly going on. So everything you are saying I 100% believe you are hearing from people on the inside

Funny thing is, the amount we’re going to pay Dusty now is going to be about triple what it would’ve been if we had hired him last year.

Yes, I think I know why the board is being told that. I believe what you are saying too. I'm happy as anyone if we end up with Dusty. But I do think there is more at play here.

If Brad ends up not being a thing, I’m more than fine with Dusty. I could maybe see him bringing Fife back to be an assistant so our defense was as good as it was before Woody got rid of him. Still not losing hope on  it being Brad unless an announcement proves otherwise.

Could make argument if we hired dusty and he did well that he would then command a huge raise and extension (i.e. cignetti)
