And yet he's able to maintain a top 25 program in basketball. No I don't see drinking in a bar as an "alcohol problem". Optics problem? Maybe, but only if he's being a belligerent drunk everywhere. You'll have to forgive me, I forgot that the standards at IU, in Bloomington, IN, are so much higher than anywhere else

Article, link, or discussions relating to this accusation? In everything I have read including just all of his arrest articles, nothing mentioned his time in San Angelo. Also, he spent many years on Bob Knight’s staff. Would the General have been accepting of a drunk on his staff? I call BS.

Because this same AD had a chance to hiring him last cycle before this last incident and he wasn’t on the his hot board according to insiders.   If it was reported last cycle he had  too many skeletons in his closet for IU to hire him I don’t think 4 more years and him getting fired from Texas is going to make IU change their stance from last cycle.   Sec schools have been known to hire coaches with baggage. And you are absolutely correct he is for sure a top 5 coach for on the court results

For those concerned about McCollum and his rumored 'Tony Bennett style' deliberate play, I found these stats doing a little research.  I didn't look up every one of his teams, but I did capture his first championship year ('16-'17), the 31-1 Covid season ('19-'20) and the last of his 4 championship years ('21-'22).

  • The '16-'17 team averaged 78.4 points per game
  • The '19-'20 team averaged 83.1 points per game
  • The '21-'22 team averaged 76.1 points per game

While those may not be vintage Loyola Marymount scoring averages, they certainly aren't vintage Tony Bennett either.  What they show to me is that he has the ability to adapt to the personnel he has.  This year's Drake team may be more deliberate, but that is likely McCollum changing his preferred style in order to win games (which is what he should do).

The tempo argument is a shaky one, at best.  If anything, it strengthens his resume.  The man wins, and has the ability to change his style in order to do so.

Do you have proof in photos? Pretty damning accusations like these must have photos to back up. It’s not like the 80’s when cell phones weren’t around, and we all had Jay Edwards stories.

Do we really need photos? There are stories from every school he's been at. Dolson passed on him last time and I think he'll do the same this time.

There weren’t photos of Wilson either but simply as a few policemen around how they had to handle Wilson throughout the years. Plus around town we all knew about his issues.

Do you know if Dolson passed on him or if Beard said no?  I’ve heard both and just curious what you know.
