He’s 100% gonna play the hits about the game. He’ll either get softball questions from the dweebs or just refuse to answer any retirement questions.

Start the press conference with “Hey fellas; I know you might want to ask about my situation, but I’m only here to talk about the game.”

Would be the proper way to handle things.

“Hey big fella (PR Guy…is it Keag still?), tell these fellas I’m not answering any questions about my situation” is probably more realistic.

I made the comment in the game thread about Michigan going up big and pissing away leads, but I do think that problem would have been materially diminished had Johnell been allowed to transfer. I still think Dusty would win gobs of games here.

“Hey coach King.  How did the announcement impact your players performance in todays game?”

I think I am going to start calling people Big Fella at work when I can't remember their names.

“No retirement questions allowed” GIVE ME A BREAK

The media that covers IU is so soft.  They should just ask, it’s a huge story.

It’s another reason the IU job is great.  No need to answer hard questions if you don’t want to.  Gee what an intimidating “fish bowl.”

From Dusty's portion of the postgame presser and a question specifically about our newly opened position.

Michigan HC Dusty May, on whether he'd have interest in the newly-open #iubb job: "That stuff's crazy. I love being at Michigan, I love our team, we're fighting like crazy. That's it. This place is my foundation, but I'm very very happy at the University of Michigan."

Not sure why there’s an up in arms reaction to Woodson’s not discussing his retirement. The official statement said that he would talk about it “at the appropriate time.” They are going to manage and control every part of this process to ensure that nothing is said to denigrate the program.
Open a press conference to the media and who knows where the conversation goes. They managed the discussions leading up to the announcement. They managed the announcement. They will continue to manage this up to, and through the naming of the next coach

What else could he say?

On the other hand, we learned a lot more about Dusty May's 2nd half coaching and effectiveness.  Also something about the guard part of the roster construction.

Strikes Dusty May off of my BINGO card.
