I haven't watched TT and have seen only a bit of UM but comparing his resume to May's, I'd take him over May. He doesn't have the FF run that May has but he has a much longer resume as HC and has done a good job everywhere he's gone with success in other tournaments. CBI and NIT Championships at North Texas, 2 D2 E8 in 2 years, as well as NJCAA runner-up and champion.

I wouldn't be upset if he was hired. I'm still not 100% sold on May.

I have a feeling he would only leave Lubbock for Austin!

Curious  if you could choose a basketball coach  anyone that is currently alive shall we say ,who would it be and why ?Right now I have no idea who every time I think of someone ,they are either kind of old or have problems or are no good

That’s actually a really hard question. 6 months ago my 1st call, maybe my only call, would have been to Amir Abdur-Rahim. I think that guy would have had a HOF career and the game lost a Guy with his passing. Truthfully, I think there are a million guys with the coaching chops to succeed with the available resources here. That makes the miss with Woodson that much worse. It’s completely about the temperament to operate comfortably in this fishbowl. Example: IMO the 2 best pure coaches in CBB are Randy Bennett and John Becker, and in no universe would either of those guys make an ounce of sense for this gig. If I was Dolson my entire search profile would be tied to temperamental fit.
Long way of saying, yeah, I don’t know.

McCasland has spent his whole life in Texas. I’d be shocked if he left

Not true. He spent a year in Arkansas. lol

I don't know if he'll leave, maybe not. But I think Dolson should at least try. I'd take him over May.

I think there’s probably zero shot there, but absolutely worth exploring if for no other reason than going into Houston and kicking Sampson’s a$$ in those ridiculous blue uniforms.

Reading the various threads on a potential new coach is fun and frustrating.  It's obvious why 1 person needs to be given the authority to hire a new coach because hiring by committee just doesn't work.  The opinions in the various threads are great examples.

Brad Stevens-  Dream job, but he's an NBA guy now and not coming back to IU and college basketball

Dusty May-  Dream job, but he just took the Michigan job and won't leave after 1 year

Bruce Pearl-  Dream job, but he has his son set up to inherit the Auburn job so he won't leave

Chris Beard- One of his two Dream jobs (Texas), but his personal issues in the past will keep IU from hiring him

Shrewsberry- Dream job, but not proven enough and couldn't handle the spotlight

Dolson just needs to find his guy and not accept no and any outside noise.

Observation: Dolson with Pam W.  The reason I include her whether it’s appearance or she actually knows what she is doing or both she is around (what I have seen) the major sports programs.  She just seems to understand, have that ability and she is interested and cares.
