Woody’s gonna be back, isn’t he? Doesn’t matter who’s on your list if they all say no.  If I’m Dolson & it gets down to Brownell, why pay the $8million buyout for Woody & for Brownell?  Think about that, $16 million + $5-6 annually for Brad Brownell?  SD should be fired if that’s where we end up, but if McCollum goes to Iowa, welp…

This isn't a serious thought, right? At that point you throw some dollars at Collins, Pitino Jr, Calhoun, Schertz, etc. Shoot, go talk to Fran if it gets that desperate. There are Z-tier candidates he would go to before bringing Woodson back. He is. not. coming. back.

So what do you guys think about Chris Beard?

Lol. Did anyone listen to the Curry Hicks podcast segment on Beard a week or so ago? He had Texas managers saying that Beard had gotten into altercations with his former fiance before at a team hotel in front of staff and players. Again this is not just a one-time thing.

Of course credible info comes from posters! I’ve seen Chris and Jerry share plenty of things before they’re publicly known. Maybe AP too… I don’t think anybody is right 100% of the time and I don’t think anybody except for a very small number of people around Dolson and the next coach actually KNOW for a fact though what the decision is. The way this search has been buttoned up, I don’t doubt posters are hearing stuff from legit people… just taking everything with a healthy grain of salt.

I've been told my whole life that salt is unhealthy so I guess that means I just have to believe everything said on this board. Living in fantasy land and as well as the mood swings are surely more healthy than salt.

More irritated by the people that seem to be happy that insiders *couldve* been wrong

Thinks more of this exact same scenario happened last time.  At the exact same message board. Everything pointed to something else, I mean everything but what random internet people here posted.  Even then nothing was said but hinted which led to people coming to their own conclusions via dreams and group think.  Many people just had fun with it but many also took it to heart and truly believed.  I'm just glad we can talk about things that are actually going on.

I'd take him in two seconds and if we don't and the new guy is flaming out in two years dolson should be canned imo.

Pat Knight wouldn't even give Beard a recommendation last time we had an opening and that was before the DV stuff. Beard is a non-starter. I don't know as much about Wade other than maybe he's just too slippery to work with? That is complete speculation on some things I read about him though. Don't take that as gospel. I don't see Wade as a risk to do something to embarrass the U as much as just be a pain for administration consistently. Beard has the potential to embarrass and divide the university and fanbase. I'm not sure Btown cops would give him as much leash as Lubbock and Oxford.

Depending on the situation maybe I could get behind a Wade hire.

Anyway,

If Devries really is the leader for Iowa then that should start to be leaked…maybe Trilly will hear things

Here is the problem not only does he have an almost 5 million dollar buyout, but what are they paying to fire Fran as well? I'd imagine he got some sort of raise / extension during the Garza / Murray years? I think they go to McCollum because of this Iowa can't afford DeVries and I think in the back of his mind he knows Iowa will be immensely less pressure filled if he leaves Drake at all hes a cautious dude looking at his resume.

It doesn't have to be hard man go hire Will Wade 90 percent of the fan base would be thrilled, could recruit at an Elite level and I bet we'd be next years UM!

True but also if you are not willing to take a chance on guys like beard or wade nobody has a right to complain in 4 years if we are doing this all over again. Playing it safe is why we do this every four years.

10 years ago I would've been saying a very loud "Hail No" to Will Wade, but with what college sports has become now I say why not offer him the job and if he accepts IU would most likely win enough to make most forget about his screw up at LSU.Lots of folks seem to think we were fools to self report the Sampson stuff which became legal a year or two after it happened,it's pretty much on par with Wade's infraction now which has become fair game in college sports...but I'm just a selfish old man and want to win now before I'm just a memory

I don't disagree with that either. However, KS put an end to the days of IU going after anyone with a past of any kind. Had we never gone after someone like KS back then, there might be some ability to take a chance on someone now. But I think KS took away the ability to do that and not be smeared in the face for taking a chance on someone a second time.
Except nobody cares. North Carolina cheated like crazy and nobody cared. Sean Miller paid players and nobody cared. Pitino hired cookers nobody cared. But they are suddenly going to care iu if hires someone not pure as the driven snow?

I'm afraid instead of b.i.n.g.o it's going to be b.u.n.g.h.o is our name-o and I'm going to have to buy a bunch of St. John's gear to keep my sanity.

Yea.  I’m okay with Wade paying guys, that’s the game.  If the lying to LSU admin stories are true (I haven’t read much about it), that is a character/integrity issue Scott would have to get comfortable with. He isn’t the image/brand risk to IU that facial hair is, which makes him more actionable.

No, I want the university to not be an embarrassment and have some ethical standards as well. I love the university, faculty, and students more than I love the basketball program actually.
Is St. Johns an embarrassment? Houston?

Or BANGO as Paul Westhead used to say when Bo Kimble, Hank Gathers, or Jeff Fryer would drill a 3.
