Wanna make a Stevens vs the field wager?

Give me 10 to 1? No one would make a 1:1 bet on this - it wouldn't make sense. Even if you are very confident you gotta look at what odds makers are giving it and it would be insanely generous of me to give you 10 to 1 based on that (not even on the list for odds)

Again just going off my experience with these things as a PR person in sports, and we never spent an ounce of time or energy on that.

Maybe college is different than the NBA, and that's entirely possible, but it's not something we ever did or spent time on in my experience.

I can definitely see no reason for the organization to do it. But from the client/agent side. 100%. I’m sure the same thing happens in NBA free agency. Agents telling teams his player is getting interest from so and so to drive up the price. In college coaching they’re doing the same thing whether to get raises or new better paying jobs. It’s quite literally the job of an agent.

I find it hilarious how guarded people are about wanting or believing it's Stevens. As if your world ends if it's not him. Come on people, there is nothing wrong with wanting him to come, rooting for it to happen, and believing that it actually might. Yes, you were "hurt" 4 years ago on the info from the insiders not being correct. Who the heck cares? Brad all the way! Let's goooo!

It is like they are embarrassed fans would remotely think it possible. How often did we hear over the years you have to make Stevens say no and then say no again. Perhaps that is all this is but there is no harm in allowing that discussion to continue. Those on the Stevens or big fish train, like me, are fully aware that it is far more common for P4 schools to elect a mid major or rising star for their next coach than to poach a top tier coach, let alone  BS or BD or JW level guy.

Exactly! Or they say, "I was let down last time, so I'm not going to believe any rumors this time." Why in the world not? If there is a .001% chance he comes here, he is the number one candidate I want to talk about, hear about, and dream about (not in a creepy/weird way) being at IU. We only have a few more days of the search fun so here is to hoping it ends with IU catching the whale.

This is a bet for RTZ, thanks.  People that have info on what’s gonna happen would bet on it, btw…

I look at it this way. He’s either a done deal or it’s not happening. I don’t think he is still mulling it over. So until we hear the announcement, I’ll play the hopeful game that they are just waiting for the right time. But I’m not going to be disappointed if it’s not him unless we really settle on someone, say, because they are from Indiana.

If several contacts give out the same misinformation, wouldn’t it seem coordinated?

No because monkey see monkey do. They don’t want to be left out so if someone reports it might as well throw it out there in case it is right.

Then they are foolish imho - why would you ever undersell yourself to the odds that much? Never let your ego get you into a bad deal imho.

*RTZ doesn't strike me as foolish by the way

Creighton looks very good. I can’t believe no one has been advocating for McDermott (dws @Uspshoosier

Liam looks very good too. Wonder how he would have done here. My guess is that he would not have had the freedom he has at UCONN

Fwiw I heard we didn’t interview him.

It’s still been an abnormal amount compared to years past

Especially considering the Celtics have 1 late first round pick and it’ll probably end up going to an international player that they don’t have to bring over immediately bc of their salary issues. And 1 second round pick. That’s a lot of scouting for probably a second round pick.
