I definitely appreciate it man, but I am more hopeful to watch sideline and timeout clips than someone telling me how they feel about him.  How attentive is his players?  Is he a screamer?  How is he out of timeouts?  I know his team hasn’t run and is extremely efficient.  Is that due to talent or him?  I hope to watch some game footage if we end up going that route.  Which is odd for me.

I agree with this, I also think they have guys they would leave that are 5 or 4 stars because they don't fit! We focus on star ratings, they focus on who fits what they want! That is what winners do!

You got it. No matter where he’s recruiting going forward, McCollum’s gonna recruit to what he values. When you listen to the guy talk the game and his players there are 2 qualities he clearly values more than anything else, self-motivation and mental processing speed. And given how much motion he runs and how much read and react they have built in that makes perfect sense. But the thing we’d have to get used to with a guy like him is that he’d be the anti-Woody from a roster building perspective. For all the criticism of Woody recruiting based solely on the stars next to a kid’s name, the fact of the matter is those made for sexier, more interesting recruitments. I doubt McCollum gives the slightest $hit about stars. We say we want that, but if he starts recruiting dudes with offers from directional Michigan schools, and I doubt that would solely be the deal because every coach wants talent, but if he does, ya just gotta trust he knows what he wants and judge the development piece and the results.

It even more likely that this push is from his agent to get Iowa to move quick.

Exactly this. Iowa wants Ben to move an hour in a half east instead of 10 hours to Bloomington. He loves Iowa and his kids love Iowa from what I’ve read.

Bloomington isn’t Des Moines or Iowa City and that’s a good thing.

Exactly it's like Woodson needing people around him. He may be a good coach but if we have to build all these people around him it's a red flag no doubt. I really thought we were done with having to do that.

1.) I have no idea why people have been so triggered by Goodman's BM tweet. He didn't really say anything that hadn't already been suspected by those on this forum.

2.) I have no idea why so many people think that BM would require such a huge support system to function as the coach at IU. He's been a coach for a long time. I'm sure he knows a lot of people already and knows how the recruiting system works and knows AAU folks, etc...

And I don't care who the coach is, every program needs both a GM now and an ace recruiter. A GM is just a necessity with the payments and NIL and the transfer portal. And even RMK had an ace recruiter. Anyone remember Joby Wright? He was responsible for RMK's last truly great class...

He gets into a lot of that in the two podcasts. Can find clips of his post game interviews on YouTube... probably find some game replays, if he eventually is the hire and you want to look at that stuff too. I think you'll like what you see.

So he's going to love Mgbako?

Seriously though, it's sounds like you are describing Matt Painter. I've often thought that Painter's best quality is that he knows exactly what he is looking for in a player, and doesn't care about stars.

My concern with a guy like McCullum is lack of experience at the D1 level and can he, or will he, adapt.  He plays an offense that worked great with limited talent and the D2 level, and seems to work at Drake.  Sure, he beat a top team here and there.  But we are talking the daily grind of the Big10.  Can he, will he, upgrade his system to attract and use more talented players he can get at IU?  You need the horses at this level to be consistently good.

So there is another flight to that airport near Boston tonight from Indianapolis International departing at 11:30 pm. Still could be nothing. Sorry if this was already posted, hard to keep up tonight.

Most likely wouldn’t be flying out of the International Airport. It would be Indy Executive. I would also keep an eye on Teterboro.

Never said he can’t win, I’m implying Indiana can’t land the big fish because it’s not just “Indiana’ anymore.

When has IU ever hired a “big fish” when they were hired? Sampson was probably closest, but he was under NCAA sanctions.

Two questions:

1: Who is Jerry? Lot of ppl have referenced him as someone in the know but I haven’t seen a post in the few days I’ve been on. Do we trust him? And who does he think it’s gonna be?

2: Yall see theres a flight from Bedford to Teterboro a couple hours after the flight from Btown landed in Bedford. In the infamous words of all our flight trackers, “could be something. Could be nothing.”

That’s a real odd plane to take from Indy to Mass

Iowa also has terrible NIL, which is a huge factor in today's day and age.

Those are valid concerns. He is 43 and other notable young coaches praise his acumen.

I trust he will continue learning and growing. And will be able to win big here too. We'll see if he becomes the guy.
