Probably best case at this point, one of those two…

it is higher risk vs reward imo for either option.  But Dolson saying he wants a hire similar to the Cig route, that doesn't scream a higher end guy like Drew, Beard, Cronin, etc.  Maybe TJ could be included in with McCollum or Wade considering he's only been at Iowa st one season?  idk

I was born in 78.   Heard my parents talk about the Blizzard a lot though

My brother had a indy star paper route and he, dad and I delivered through it.  Great times.

So much to like about this & your other posts.  The pop culture stuff is fun, keep it up.  If you are right & actually know something, you & a few others will be legendary for sticking to your guns & calling the shot.  If you know nothing & are trolling, your commitment is legendary.  If you know nothing & just want attention, your psychosis is legendary.

Did Dolson actually say he wants a hire similar to the Cig route -- or is that just speculation?

We went the Cig route for that hire because it's football -- and we kinda had to roll the dice a little bit. We're essentially beggars, not choosers.

I would think with basketball -- even with our struggles over the past 25-plus or so years -- we can still think of ourselves as choosers. We might not get our No. 1 choice, but we'll get a good coach.

I agree with some that nothing has changed on my end and that there has been a deal for the big dog for a while but if it goes south then McCollum is the backup plan.

Shoot for the moon with Stevens and if it doesn't work, we likely end up with one of the best up and coming coaches on the circuit?  I think that's a win/win imo.

I thought I saw someone with creditable information stated that Cig wanted a similar hire to Cig, maybe I misread it or misinterpreted it entirely is a possibility too lol

I want to believe it's Stevens, but if it truly is, this would be the biggest kept secret in the history of sports. Not sure how it would not have leaked to the media at some point.

The longer the uncertainty or quietness goes on, the more I am inclined to think the next coach will be someone like McCollum or Wade.  McCollum has dominated (yes at D2 level and only 1 year at Drake) but man it's been an impressive run.  Wade, while he had issues with level 1 violations at LSU, the sport has changed drastically since those issues took place.  I think given the resources and open check book that IU has, either one would thrive here at IU.

I imagine there’s a range of outcome that could land on  McCollum. There’s none that would land on Wade.

Only IU fans can follow a program that has 1 winning conference record in the last 9 years and somehow think their program can turn Stevens away from the NBA to come back and coach college or get Pearl to leave Auburn where he has the number 1 team in the county and the program rolling or get Drew away from Baylor where he won a national championship all because well IU is a sleeping giant with everything set up for a coach to succeed.  Different people have different views on where this program actually is at in its current position in college basketball

Well...when you put it that way...

There is definitely a surprise candidate out there. Maybe Stevens is the surprise candidate all along that isn’t on any national media’s list.

Thanks Chris. I think McCollum would do well at IU. What's the current timeline for any info leaking?
