I had a little more hope on Bates than Geronimo, low standard though as I've said repeatedly Geronimo is an athlete on a basketball court not a basketball player and after his junior year I think he is what he is.
Cleveland would add some slashing from the wing like Ledlum would have and looks a little more athletic.  We reached out but that doesn't mean much.

The most shocking thing I’ve learned tonight is it’s not really that we’ve been ultra selective, it’s the lack of reciprocating interest we’ve received when trying to reach out. Much more concerning.

I’d say it’s proving that even with a top 10 Nil, an NBA coach, and a historic blueblood program with lots of other perks we aren’t elite recruiters.

ive always wanted a spot at the table.  I guess the only thing we are missing is recent winning history.  But by the time we achieve that, IF we achieve that Woody is gone.

I’d say serious questions need to be asked what’s the missing ingredient?  Arkansas grabs 10 starters every year with a winning history?  Things just don’t add up.  Maybe Woody’s hands off recruiting approach isn’t enough. Idk.  Questions.

The missing ingredient is we play in the dumpster fire known as the big 10. Im sounding like a broken record at this point but the big 10 runs the basketball program (and officiates) in a way that turns people off. People dont want to play in a league that runs basketball like it does not care about its league being successful.

And short of the BIG 10 HQ getting their heads out of their behind, not much IU can do.

I just don't think Woodson with Rosemond, Hunter, and Walsh is good enough.... I keep seeing Rabjohns and Hysteric dude praise Yasir Rosemond and Walsh and even Howard for their "work" and what not. "Pay Coach Ya!!" "Look at Howards Tweets!!" Yes, the Staff deserves credit for JHS, Reneau, and possibly Ware. But it's gonna have to be more than that to get IU back to a national status. Woodson needs a strong staff around him. When 2/3's of your assistants are from the Archie Miller era...that's not a good thing folks. Again, I appreciate their hard work. I don't doubt that. I just don't think they are good enough.

That being said it's not panic time but the staff HAS to start closing on some of these guys. I laugh when Rabjohns says they are being "selective". When you have 3 maybe 4 open spots I don't think you can afford that.

Yeah, I didn't really like that he kept so much of the Miller staff around.

I know our fanbase gave up on Geronimo and Bates but I’d take those guys back in a heartbeat over the scraps left in the portal right now. I think both of their potential far outweighs how they were playing in our system. Time will tell.

Besides Cleveland, Knecht.  But over pretty much everyone else.

was thinking definitive upgrades were in store.

Rabjohns said 6-7 guys rumored to still hit the portal that may or may not that IU could be interested in. Sounds like Rabjohns talk to me, but we need some hope somewhere.

Problem is we won’t know what are scraps or not until the season gets underway. Plenty of examples of high level players the last couple seasons that didn’t look like impressive pick up’s coming out of the portal (boum, Nowell, council to name a few). Ware has as much of a chance to be a bust as some other guy we aren’t excited about has to be our leading scorer.

The answer to that Arkansas question is fairly obvious but don’t think those that want success now will like it.

Musselman has been there 4 years now and had good tournament success. The key is the extra time he has had.

There is a very, very small handful of coaches who could be doing more with where this program was. Most likely those coaches don’t want to be here based on the last search. Don’t tell me about some great x and o guy either. You need dudes and that is IU’s issue and the Big Ten overall right now.

the only real option is to give Woody and this staff time to get the program with consistent success which will lead to better and easier recruiting. The draft success should help too.

I also don’t think it has been nearly as bad as many profess. Some top talent has came here in a short 2 years. Only need a few more and he has this thing going to where everyone wants it. There is a guy or 2 out there or will be out there to help.

Musselman went 25-7 and made the elite eight during his second season at Arkansas. He followed that up with another elite eight the next season. Woodson is going into his third season now, and we certainly don’t project to be an elite eight team next year.

I don’t think the blame can be laid on Archie at this point. Yeah, he sucked. But the transfer portal gives you the opportunity to completely revamp your roster, and Woodson had TJD because of Archie. The past two seasons look a lot different without him. Woodson didn’t inherit a 2008, no scholarship players, IU team.

To be fair, if Archie had not been fired I have zero doubt that TJD would have been here for his junior season.  TJD signed with Archie, but he himself said that he came back his junior year because of what Woodson said to him.

I think people underestimate how playing in the Big Ten is a detriment these days. They are not getting the elite players anymore and have not done well in the tournament. IU is definitely getting negatively recruited against because of this. It's been mentioned by a few people. BIG needs to realize this and start changing the way the games are called.

or IU needs to pull a UCLA and switch conferences.

Because the BIG 10 doesnt give a rats behind. And wont change until they are forced

It's okay y'all. Plenty of other fish in the sea and remember... We have a dude on the roster that can contribute at the 3 next year. KALEB BANKS.

Other that... Here is a short of of 3s we can go after, whether we will or not... Don't know, don't care. Have some faith y'all.

RaeQuan Battle(Montana State)- 6-5, 190. Averaged 17.7ppg, 2.9 rpg, 35.3% 3pt on 4.3 attempts, 83.3% FT on 4.1 attempts. Explosive athlete.

Zach Hicks(Temple)- 6-7, 185. Averaged 9.6ppg, 5.1rpg, 35.6% 3pt on 7.0 attempts. Really nice looking shot and consistent.

Myron Gardner(Little Rock)- 6-6, 222. Averaged 13.2ppg, 9.1rpg, 3.6apg, 35.6% 3pt on 3.5 attempts, 75.5% FT on 3.5 attempts.

Philmon Gebrewhit(DePaul)- 6-7, 185. Averaged 5.8 points, 2.1rpg, 37.2% 3pt on 3.0 attempts (27% year before on 2.8 attempts). Reminds me a little of CJ Gunn. Very energetic jumpshot.

Sean Conway(VMI)- 6-5, 215. Averaged 12.1ppg, 4.9rpg, 37.8% 3pt on 5.7 attempts. He'd be your Andrew Funk or even what we had in Zeisloft maybe.

That's just some optimistic Loaded Chicken Sandwich with a slice of optimism on it.

(I'll share links to YouTube videos for each)

Add Tre White of USC to that list.  Hit the portal today.  Freshman last year, 9.0 ppg, 5.1 reb.  Only shot 27% from three but no reason to believe that won't improve.  Top 50 recruit.
