Take it with a grain of salt but as a hypothetical, how does BTB feel about this?

Personally, I can't put a lot of faith into a Twitter account with 189 followers.  Hope it's true.  Want it to be true.  But until there's confirmation from what I consider to be reliable sources it's just noise.

Banks and Ledlum could be 3s.

Banks can guard small post players and a lot of perimeter players, but he’s going to have to figure out how he’s going to score if he wants to play. I would assume from our transfer targets, Woody wants him him out on the perimeter.

Why?

Because some they rank some on their potential, some they rank on what they've actually done in college, others.. I have no clue how they could come up with that ranking.

It's one of the more useless exercises we tie ourselves to. It is an imperfect science, admittedly, but mercy. I've multiple sites have Tamar Bates ranked ahead Sparks. That's wild, for instance.

Bates is ahead of the Gilbert kid from UNLV. These sites won't admit how bad they screwed up the first time when doing these rankings. Ware at #2.. no. Just no.

So true.

Ware might not start at IU. Ledlum would start and lead the team.

When it came out of the stall and hit temp at 4:30AM I took it off the smoker and checked this sight again.Just got back up and immediately checked in again

WTF is wrong with me?

Nothing. I'm getting ready to smoke some meatballs for spaghetti tonight for the family. What you're doing seems like a very normal Saturday for me lol

I don't mean to keep harping on Tamar, because I do hope succeeds... but he's ranked ahead of Primo Spears, who avged 15p 5a 3r in a Power 6 conference last year?!?!

Nooooope.

Sometimes you are just who you are. But team fit, usage, style of play are all factors in figuring out what you can become plus the dreaded eye test. IMO, it’s obvious Bates can hit shots, just not at IU. Will that follow him forever? Maybe. But he played at a level in HS and AAU to be considered a borderline 5 star. The reality is he’s probably somewhere between where he was ranked and what Indiana fans think of him. The same way the NBA tries to draft on potential, these transfer rankings factor in that as well.

Take Kel Ware for example. Stats arent good. But you watch the film and see what he could become. It’s always a bit of a gamble but it’s the whole Ceiling vs Floor debate and the Moneyball debate. Do you take the proven guy with a limited ceiling or the potential that’s unproven. I believe some of these rankings try to factor those aspects into it. But yes, you are right, they are kind of a crapshoot with some semblance of common sense merit.

Lol. Long story, long.

As much as Bates struggled shooting the ball, he shot 37% from three.  Spears shot 30%.  Spears was also near the national leaders in turnovers.

Do you think Tamar could avg anywhere CLOSE to 15p 5a 3r in a power 6 conf?

I'd be willing to bet Tamars quality of shot, on average, dwarfed Primos.

Late bloomer in the rankings.  His rank history rised significantly near the end

On a "good team", I think Bates is 6th man/7th man.. spot up shooter type role... as his ceiling.
