I certainly agree with his thoughts about IU fans demanding that our recruits are local.  I've heard this for years and it drives me crazy.
When we get large recruiting classes from the state of Indiana, they almost always disappoint.  In fact, the only Indiana recruits in the last 20 years that I would say didn't disappoint were Zeller, Gordon, Jeffries and Yogi.  Sometimes I wonder if people tell these Indiana kids how much better they are because they're native Hoosiers and it goes to their heads, affecting their play.
Get the best recruits regardless of where they're from.  I don't care if the recruit is from Indiana or Uranus.  There's nothing special in the water here making Indiana kids better than anywhere else.
Inside out?  That's limiting yourself.  Recruit everywhere.

Eh? I think the recruit from Uranus would struggle with Earth’s gravity limiting his athletic ability. Hard pass

Preach. 2012 and 2018. I think it's important to get the best player in the state if he's a high level player. Anthony Leal is not a high level player. Rob Phinisee is not a high level player. The 2020 in-state class was pretty weak. I think the 2021 in-state class is pretty overrated outside of Kaufman. I think the whole obsession over in-state recruiting is fans were pissed about losing some really good players that would've done well at IU (Gary Harris, Trey Lyles, Kyle Guy to name some). Bottom line is you get the best players you can.

Yeah I don’t disagree that we can’t handcuff ourselves to the state but how many have left in those same 20 years that we could have desperately used that were far better options than what was on our rosters? The Sean May’s...Conley and Oden, Teague, Lyles, Irvin, Harris. Kyle Guy, deshaun Thomas. The list goes on, that’s just top of my head. We aren’t going to get them all, but being the flagship program in a state with the talent level it has, it doesn’t make any sense not to take advantage of that talent as much as possible.

This should be common sense. But the reverse was Crean and Davis missed a lot of in state talent that ended up being good elsewhere.

2012- Glenn Robinson, Gary Harris
2013-Zak Irvin
2014-Trey Lyles, Trevon Bluiett
2015-Caleb Swanigan
2016-Kyle Guy
2017-Jaren Jackson, Kris Wilkes, Paul Scruggs

Archie has done well in state until this Season. Kaufman and Furst. Brooks was a miss. Anderson over Henry a misjudge. Jaden Ivey proving to be the best 2020 player.

Archie should be doing better. Imo, Phinisee was a big “miss”. He wanted Garland with Romeo. He then wanted Carton. He has never had a point guard that is legit. But then again, what creative, athletic PG would want to play Archie ball? Lander, too young. Shooting from WAY to deep and out of rhythm. Archie has aimed for some serious, legit guys every class and misses almost all of them, then he falls back on the mid rated Indiana guys. Some coach could win with those guys, but he rarely has a shooter. He rarely has a rim protector. It’s almost like he doesn’t know what he’s doing.

Omg guys, my faith in our program is high right now.  I posted that before I got in the shower where I thought about all the disagreement I would come back to.  Instead that post has one of those heart banner thingies.

In the past that post would have brought the heat.  Now it brings the love.

We're progressing fellas.  We're gonna right this ship.  This sleeping giant is waking up.

We just gotta flush the turd first.

Agreed 100%. You have to BE ABLE to recruit the state because it does produce good players.

But you shouldn’t ONLY recruit the state. Because yes that is dumb and does limit the program.

He’s tried very hard to recruit out of state. Very good players. Matthew Hurt, Precious, DJ Carton, Jahmius Ramsey, Tre Mann, Ayo Dosunmu, Cockburn, Garland, Isaiah Stewart, Zeke Nanji, James Bouknight, Dawson Garcia, Caleb Love, Darius Bazely, Cole Swider, Matt Cross.

2021 was an absolute joke in recruiting.

Kaufman, Furst, Longino, Mohammad, Wesley, Camden, Hopkins, Trey Patterson, Mason Miller, Hunter Sallis.

Imagine if we got 2 of these guys per class? Would Archie win with that talent?

Next question, why are we missing? System, reputation, gray area? These questions need answered before we actually start winning big.

I know we have people in the know saying prepare for archie to be back but I can't see it. I have zero inside info on this but in what world would u get another chance with no past history of success and no future recruiting to point to. You also haven't proven u can use talent that you do get. He is gone i don't care what anyone says

Only one thing makes sense...pap's been compromised.  He has vibes...he's kidnapped in a Pontiac Vibe.  Not gonna be a blast...the only way to save IUBB is to blow something up...Mackey Arena.

It's so simple now

The world in which the powers that be don’t care about wins and losses and just care about saving money. What do they care if we miss another NCAA tournament? Basketball doesn’t really matter to them.

Congrats on that heart banner! Totally agree with you regarding being driven up the wall that recruits must come from an Indiana. That and firing Archie will cause a 4 year rebuild drive me absolutely bonkers.

I don't buy this. Dolson seems like he cares. The BOT consists of eight member, one of whom is Quinn Buckner. Another trustee, James Morris, is vice chairman of Pacers Sports and Entertainment and was previously treasurer of the U.S. Olympic Committee. So 25% of our BOT built their careers with a focus on sports.

McRobbie may not be the biggest basketball fan, but he isn't completely indifferent to IU athletics. In fact, the only time IU has given a flying f*** about our facilities since the early 70s has been during his tenure. Cook Hall, renovating Assembly Hall, two additions to Memorial Stadium, Bart Kaufman Field.
