University of No Classes did the same thing with Jalen Washington and got his commitment within days.  I hate that any school has to do that to land a recruit but that's the way the game is played today.  I can understand why some coaches have commented they intend to do the bulk of their future recruiting out of the transfer portal.

In his morning game today at Peach Jam 6-foot-5 Class of 2022 combo-guard Jalen Hood-Schifino was a smooth operator in the mid-range this morning.  He finished with 25 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists while shooting 8-of-19 from the field and 9-of-12 from the free-throw line.

It was a little bit different of a scenario between the JHS situation and the Washington UNC situation.

I guess the preference would be for him to mysteriously not play the rest of the AAU season and have everyone speculate on the reasoning? The kid and his mom are free to disclose whatever they want. Odd comment from you.

The kid reported it on his Instagram.  That was enough.  Media types reporting that a high school kid has an illness so they can be an "insider" crosses a line for me.  Just kind of creepy.

Wow his mom is so creepy. Can't believe she announced an illness that tens of million of people have had in the past year.

 

Edit: Just saw that the New York Times has joined the creep show in reporting on the outbreak at Peach Jam that affected Hood-Schifino.

That’s a strong recruiting 5.  Florida and Texas hold the southern draw.  Really hope we can pull this off.  Want to see JHS, Bates, and Lander as our guards of the future.

Is our NIL set up to compete with Memphis and Texas? That has me worried. We treated him like a #1 target. Hope it pays off.

He has visited us and Tennessee i believe. Tennessee also has a guard locked up that may deter JHS so hoping this is all a good sign

Kind of funny this comes out a day after we played a game. Maybe he saw how we used Bates and liked what he saw
