Class of '66 Old Fart Posted December 16, 2018 Posted December 16, 2018 NIce post-game article from Sportingnews.com focused on Rob, but a good read. http://www.sportingnews.com/us/ncaa-basketball/news/rob-phinisee-hero-cardiac-hoosiers-crossroads-classic/1fnoa6rjcbsvy1rjp9wg57un3m Quote
LamarCheeks Posted December 16, 2018 Posted December 16, 2018 If the Toiletmaker fans still around were indeed chanting “IU sucks,” what better way to shut their damn pieholes than for the Lafayette kid to hit the winner right in front of them!!! Alford Bailey Posted December 16, 2018 Posted December 16, 2018 Finally got home from my first Crossroads. A great afternoon of basketball for the state of Indiana. Still not a fan of Bankers Life. Its way too bland but it is what it is. Thought we looked like the more talented team that was pretty much just going through the motions (except Juwan) for a good part of the game. We were able to turn it on when it counted. Fitting for Rob to hit that shot as Butler was attacking him from the beginning of the game. Hoosierfan2017 1 Quote
Popular Post Class of '66 Old Fart Posted December 16, 2018 Popular Post Posted December 16, 2018 One of the better post-game tweets: Rob Phinisee is already more clutch than Paul George in Bankers Life Fieldhouse. ElectricBoogaloo, FloridaHoosierGirl, Crimson and Cream and 7 others 8 2 Quote

Crimson and Cream Posted December 16, 2018 Posted December 16, 2018 That was awesome. Luckily my dog was the only one home. It's a wonder my neighbors didn't call the police for a noise complaint. Went to Texas Roadhouse afterwards to celebrate and Hoosier nation was out in full force. thebigweave, Hoosier_roots and Str8Hoosiers 3 Quote
WayneFleekHoosier Posted December 16, 2018 Posted December 16, 2018 Not to dampen the mood any but I really don’t look at Romeo and see a OAD Honestly I agree but that’s not necessarily good for IU. Was top 10 projection to start the season and now slipping. I think another year to work on his shot and dribbling would be good for him but with the nature of NBA drafting and their love for new shiny objects it hurts things a little. Not really sure what’s best but him going in the lottery would be ideal. I said he is probably 2 years away from helping an NBA team earlier this year and got crucified. HoosierAloha Posted December 16, 2018 Posted December 16, 2018 The kid is 18/19 years old and in his 11th game of college ball, 7 of which were against high major teams. I don’t think he looks like a OAD for a few reasons; laidback demeanor and not demanding the ball. He’s still figuring things out with new teammates, in a new system, and a new environment. He’ll be fine and will have a successful career. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners thebigweave, ellen.walden and Ranger78 3 Quote

Not knocking the kid but in a league where the centers are expected to hit 3s I think that NBA Gms have to be concerned by his shooting. Quote
ray Posted December 16, 2018 Posted December 16, 2018 I assume they planned to get the ball in Romeo’s hands, but I’m so glad Romeo’s hand didn’t touch the ball (on the game-winning assist) or this one would have gone extra minutes. It was close. Quote

Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners Thinking the same thing as the team was mobbing Phinissee. Could be a spark that lights a much larger fire. As frustrated as I’ve been with the “eye test” of this team offensively, it sure does feel good to finally be on the winning side of these nail biters. So used to expecting to lose these. This team is gonna be ready for March if they keep pulling these out. We have 5 wins over pomeroy top 50 teams already!! thebigweave 1 Quote
