Popular Post mdn82 Posted September 11, 2018 Popular Post Posted September 11, 2018 No, because McRoberts played 150 more minutes than Smith last season, and McRoberts has 3 more years of experience. Plus you'd probably want 3 guards rather than 2 F's and a center since Miller passes it around the arc a lot before scoring and is into transition offense (better with guards). Devonte, Langford, McRoberts, Morgan, and Fitzner is 3 seniors, 1 junior and a freshman. That's an old roster, probably would be the oldest in the big ten. Just depends on what defense you're going for I guess. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile appI love McBob. More than most here actually. But I would be shocked if he is starting over Smith. McBob brings steadiness. He is a perfect off the bench player. His experience off of the bench would be a fantastic tool to have. Smith is our third best player. He has had a great summer. Finished the year strong. He just gives us more than what McBob can. McBob definitely has a role on this team but it's as one of the first off the bench to bring energy and defense. Hopefully, he'll have improve his shot and has the confidence in taking them when open. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app mdn82, taco corp, thebigweave and 1 other 4 Quote
Brass Cannon Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 Agreed Fitz should start Mcroberts should definitely get time off the bench. I’d say Green, Langford, Smith or Hunter, Morgan, Fitzner. looking at Derons advanced statistics he wasn’t as ineffective on defense as I remembered Could see him being a force off the bench Him, Al, Smith or Hunter and Mcroberts could be a stellar core off the bench. cthomas Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 It's great to have options. I think RP is going to have a more significant role this year than many are anticipating. He is exactly what we didn't have a year ago. Quote

Napleshoosier Posted September 12, 2018 Posted September 12, 2018 If Smith can be that Troy Williams slasher with an outside shot Morgan is going to have plenty of room to work down low. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile appI think Smith will be a lot better than Troy. He was out of control most the time. Chips&Dipo Posted September 12, 2018 Posted September 12, 2018 I really like McBob, but if he isn't going to take open shots when they come to him and slow down the offense as a result, I would much rather have a player willing to take open shots. Not that I don't think McBob has a role on this team, but there were times when he would hold the ball and wait for someone to roll off a screen when there wasn't anybody within ten feet of him. In the podcast from Monday, Miller said Phinisee will be a terrific point guard in the Big Ten "in his time" and that he will "have a window to contribute this year." Obviously CAM is not a hype guy but that comment isn't something that makes me think he is going to come in right away and get significant playing time. MemphisHoosier and mdn82 2 Quote

I think he is a player that can potentially play more as the season goes on due to how thin we are at the guard position. Hopefully Green is what he has been described this summer.
