Steve Alford fires his best recruiter and top assistant (David Grace)......Alford told Grace that the decision was the AD’s. When Grace confronted the AD, he was told that he never instructed Alford to make any changes to the staff......what a slimeball.... So glad we didn’t make this mistake.

Yeah I am paid. I’m actually Indiana Athletic’s graphic design director. I can’t go into too much detail here, but these are all recruit graphics. I do both personalized and generic ones, and these are the generic ones. The coaching staff asks me for personalized ones, and I just come up with three to four generic ones each week on my own.

And I’ve been here for two years now, so I should be here again next year! Haha. And thank you btw.

Isn't this kind of an odd player to reach out to? 4 star Texas kid playing at a basketball factory in Florida. Pretty different from what the model has been so far. Maybe a little like Stewart, but Stewart is much higher profile. Does CAM or 1 of the Assts have a relationship with IMG?

I think Archie is just checking out all of his options. He’s a really good player who’s ranked in the 40s(?) now I believe. We went after a few guys like that in the 2018 class. Dort comes to mind

We'll know more this weekend when the coaches are in Indy and Dallas checking out AAU. I expect two 19 scholarships to be taken by the end of the summer. Maybe 3.

I'm telling you that Hurt is very much in the conversation. Hurt's dad is his and was Race's AAU coach. He is very impressed with how Race body looks and how much his game has changed in a year. He will contribute next year. We are in the conversation for him, that's for sure

I’d gladly swap out Brooks or Watford for Hurt. It goes without saying, but he would be a MAJOR get.

I think that the point about filling multiple 2019 scholarship spots by the end of the summer is spot on and should be expected.

Here's why:

1. Archie and staff know what the heck they are doing!
2. We want to maybe reserve one spot for an unexpected transfer fill or for an (ahem...Romeo, Hurt) exceptional player who is worth the wait.
3. We want to have high end recruits feel like if they don't commit, someone else will take their spot (ahem ... "Hurry up Damezi; Aaron Henry is about to pop").
4. We don't want to be recruiting for 2019 during the 2018/2019 season.
5. Here's the clincher: PRECEDENCE! Last July we filled almost the entire 2018 class in seven weeks of summer with Damezi, Race, Rob, Jake, and Jerome. We held one back for a special recruit, and CuJo leaving opened one more up unexpectedly.

Starting to see that our staff has a well-structured plan for this stuff? Yup.

Based on this precedence I could see us taking three over the summer and holding one spot back for Hurt.

Guys this is insane. 

We won't always have an "in" like we do with so many top level guys in 2019. If we do pull 3-4, 5* guys in a 3 month period, it just may give us the momentum to keep it up even without the fortuitous connections. For this reason alone I'm particularly interested in DJ Carton. He has no reason to look at us over anyone else. But if we flex our collective muscle we can land these guys. He's been treated to well-prepared coaches talking to him, a game against Purdue at Assembly Hall, watching an NBA All Star receive a hero's homecoming at the game, that same All Star penning an ode to Indiana published the day after besting LeBron, and now TJD retweeting DJ's offer announcement. This strength was there before, but got lost somehow resulting in paltry recruiting classes at times. Maybe Archie can harness it.

Strange to say, if I had my druthers I'm taking TJD, Watford, and Carton. Hurt is the best of the bunch, but I guess I'd rather roll with the local kid. Watford basically because he's in the family already and a top ten talent, and Carton because we need guards bad.

I'm not sure you can go wrong with any of these kids. Were on a recruiting roll but I think it has to do with the staff having a plan and following it. I'm just going to enjoy the heck out of it and hope it last for years to come.

Just a heads up Warren Central will be the place to go this weekend to watch some recruits. The Adidas Gauntlet qualifier is this weekend. Indiana Elite and Hurt will be at this event. I plan on going Saturday and Sunday. I’m not sure who else will be there but I will update
