I agree. Especially when one of the athlete's at the top of the creaning list is an Indiana kid.

Yupp. Priller and Gelon are two main guys on the list and Creaning Gelon would be incredibly stupid. He can't talk about how much he wants to recruit the state and then force out one of our few Indiana kids. Sure Gelon isn't good enough to produce at this level right now but I think the backlash would exceed whatever benefit we would get from opening up a scholarship.

I don't think Archie is going to come in and try rebuilding relationships with high school coaches by immediately Creaning guys. It's just a bad look imo.

Priller isn't an Indiana kid and Gelon, though a great kid most coaches wouldn't bat an eye if it were to happen in all honesty. They would see it as Crean took a chance on him and he isn't the type of kid Archie wants. Sadly since he wasn't highly recruited or ranked his connections aren't that extended.

Thats not how it works, Gelon may not be that connected but it sets a tone

I've never been into Mother Bears. Really more of a stromboli at Nick's guy...

Guys , Moore and Durham aren't cant-miss recruits (even though Durham seems like an awesome kid). And we have enough talent on this team that we don't need freshmen beyond Smith next year. It goes way further to miss out on these recruits but build the team-first mindset. For our players to buy in, Archie needs their trust.

"Creaning" is a snide term with negative connotation. Let's drop it from the program.

All this Mother Bears love is making me wonder if something's wrong with me for not liking it.. Maybe I haven't tried the right thing there yet.

I always thought it was overrated too.  I know it's heresy to say, but it's 90% hype considering all the love it always gets.  I'd probably take Aver's over it if I get to pick, and it's too bad Mad Mushroom closed because that was my go-to.

Priller's not an Indiana kid but that looks bad to coaches too. Forcing out a senior who hasn't had any off the court problems isn't a good look. I understand that it happens at other programs but those coaches are already well-established. If Archie comes in and does it right away I think that could leave a bad taste in people's mouths and get started on the wrong foot.

Gelon isn't a 5 star player but he's from the Region and there's some talent up there. His high school coach likely has connections in the state and throwing out one of his players could lead to him bad mouthing the program to other coaches. You can't please everyone but I think Creaning an Indiana kid would set a bad tone in the state right away. We already have enough problems in-state to fix because of Crean, no sense in making it worse than it already is.

Yep there is no way on God's green earth that Archie is gonna kick out Gelon. It would be the same exact thing as the previous coach. Archie has to build a great relationship with in-state recruits and kicking an in-state recruit to the curb would not be good in the slightest. Considering there's some great recruits for 2018, the in-state building needs to get started on the right foot. Get Robert Phinesee and Romeo Langford. They should absolutely be the top targets in that class

I thought the Student Bill of Rights gave student athletes the chance to complete their degree if they chose to not be an athlete anymore. I didn't think it guaranteed a four year athletic scholarship.

I could be wrong because there is like 10 different things that it covers and I thought that was 1 of them.

I believe it guarantees a scholarship but not necessarily an athletic scholarship... they can't play but they could still finish their degree I believe under some other scholarship situation.
