Final 247 rankings for our 2017 class:

Justin Smith at #73 (up two spots)

Clifton Moore at #138 (up three spots)

Al Durham, Jr at #166 (up 66 spots)

Seems like his Derby Festival performance may have given Al a major bump. He looked really good.

This class might not have the biggest immediate impact, but a potential 2019 lineup of Phinisee, Durham, Smith, Davis and Moore sounds killer!

I will say, I foresee a transfer of at least one of Green, CuJo and Durham after next year if we get at least two of Phinisee, Garland and Langford.

I've wondered the same thing about a guy like Priller. If he will have his degree after this semester, maybe he is willing to move on, knowing the scholarship situation.

Nobody is giving up a scholarship.

I took it that Recker was implying giving up as in getting Creaned.

LOL Yea I knew what he meant... just couldn't resist giving him a little ribbing... (Just messing with you Recker no ill will :92:)

I actually assumed he meant nobody would give it up and play as a Walk-On or just walk away from the game now that they have a degree.

Actually yes 3 people are!

Believe it is only two since OG is gone.

Have to think that at least one will be gone between TB, JBJ and ROJO.

That just leaves one more between Priller, Galon or perhaps someone that does not think there are many available minutes in their future.  I think that this will work itself out fairly easily.

Wouldn't bet on it.  MSB is living the dream of his life and I think he's more than content to sit at the end of the bench in his candystripes and be a Hoosier.  His exuberance on the bench is something I really enjoy and I'm looking forward to his senior speech next year.  And IMO there's zero chance he gets 'Creaned'.  The scholarship problem will be resolved but it won't involve MSB.

I believe this and actually thought he may be serviceable as a throw back Sloan, or the last Plumlee. The one game he set solid screens which we will be using properly now and he could hatchet his way to 4 fouls in 4 minutes. I can see RJ and JB leaving and hopefully TB stays.

Technically 3 have to give up their scholarships... Including OG who is giving his up for the opportunity to go Pro...

Comment was mostly said in jest as Recker had just said nobody is giving up their scholarship without adding any context so my reply that 3 are is technically true but sounds much different without context such as the OG context above.

I can't believe that someone as prepared as Coach Miller is reputed to be hasn't worked out the various scenarios and their solutions. He may not know precisely how this will play out but I'm confident he knows what he will do in each possible situation.

Yes, which is exactly how Crean handled these oversignings too. Now that Archie has accepted all 3 recruits, it looks like he is wanting to play the same as Crean.

No he was forced in a bad situation and is doing the best he can.  Look for us to not use all available scholarships next year

Really? Two of the three recruits wanted out. By talking them back into signing, he put himself into the situation. You can't blame Crean for Miller's actions there.

I'm still expecting the three spots to be OG, TB, and JB.

In that case he did what he needed to do. If someone gets Creaned for 1 of these 3 newcomers I'll be surprised, but if so, I imagine they know and expect the circumstances.

That's fine, and the same way Crean ran things. I don't understand how Crean got crucified for it but Miller gets praised for it

I wouldn't call it wanting out more of wanting all options on deck until they met the new coach which is understandable to do. In interviews I saw with scouts they all said no way was Al ever going to leave IU.

Two of them requested out. Everything I've read used that phrase. Miller talked them into staying, putting himself into this oversign situation.

You should probably listen to Al himself talk about it on the various podcast that he did after he recommitted.  I will go by what he had to say on the matter then how other writers phrased it.

Yeah a new coach cant start his tenure with only 1 incoming recruit because his predecessor was a screw up. Miller needs to bring in players this year so they can get experience after a mass exodus after the upcoming season.
