I will preface this with I have and think that Rojo should return.  I believe this for personal reasons as a fan and as a non-traditional college student who would like to see him finish out his degree.  He will not be drafted, but if he wants to play in the d-league or overseas, I will not and cannot fault him for that decision.

Regarding my comment earlier, it was never stated they were having issues.  Conflicting reports from him and his family were released though.  Zach Osterman confirmed the report of Rojo's intent to return with Robert Sr.  He tweeted it and wrote a story on it.  However, this does not make Mr. Johnson's statement factual.

Rojo tweeting that he was still in the draft process confirmed that some form of communication breakdown has occurred within his circle (i.e., his family).

My comments weren't meant to get anyone worked up, merely speculation based upon what I had read.

How about just relaxing and see where it goes?

So we can't react to reports any more? What's the point of a forum? Discussion, that's what. Groupthink is a bad thing. Learn to be objective. Discuss topics. Argue. Counter argue. Have fun. The lambasting over an awkward future dinner comment is quite comical.

I'm not sure I get the wording 'going through the draft process'.  He's not getting drafted....no one is thinking that in the slightest.  It seems to me that was set on leaving, he would more likely say 'exploring options' as opposed to 'going through the draft process'.

Sucks when people have opinions on a message board huh?

And my opinion was that the take I quoted was very hot. What is your point exactly? My opinion is not allowed to be "I think your opinion is a little over the top"?

The other funny thing about the "Social media is the worst thing to ever happen" take (other than war, famine, poverty, racism, etc. existing in the world) is that it was delivered on an online message board, which is a type of media on which people interact socially.

Excited about next year's team. Mainly bc we will have Colin and Rojo back. We won't be world beaters but I'm confident that I'll actually enjoy the product on the floor. I may even be able to scale back on my bourbon whiskey consumption. Wishful thinking, I know.

Nothing like a little cocktail with some hoops!

Nothing wrong with discussion. Everything wrong with jumping to conclusions like throwing dad under the bus.
There are competing reports. Nothing wrong with discussing whether he should stay or go.

I'd be surprised if the starting lineup looks like anything other than this:

Newkirk

Rojo

Morgan

Hartman

Davis

Subs with Regular Minutes in order of off the bench (except for foul trouble situations)

Green

Cujo

Moore

McSwain

Smith

Foul Trouble Inserts

Durham

McRoberts

Priller

Mop Up Duty Only

Gelon

Jager

Taylor

For the sake of evening out the rotation though, I would rather Green start and Newkirk be the first off the bench for the second unit as he would provide the offense on the 2nd unit with Cujo.  Green would be a better facilitator for the starting 5 without having to score as he would be on the 2nd unit.

My 2 units would be:

A

  1. Green
  2. Rojo
  3. Morgan
  4. Hartman
  5. Davis

B

  1. Newkirk
  2. Cujo
  3. Smith
  4. McSwain
  5. Moore

Now don't get me wrong, I would never do a line change like this as a coach, it would be based off who is playing well, fatigue, foul trouble and flow of the game and a gradual substitution.

I think Smith will get a lot of minutes and be one of the first guys off the bench. He has a good frame and we're going to need that length and athleticism.

You may very well be right, I don't know a lot about the incoming freshman unfortunately.

To me, Durham and Moore seem like guys that won't make much of an impact their freshman year but could develop into good players later on.

I think Smith can come in and make an impact right away though. At 6'7 and 210-215 he's ready physically, and in his tapes he looks really athletic. I can see him getting 18-20 minutes a game, maybe more depending on how Archie subs. We don't really have a post player outside of Davis but I think we can kind of offset that by having a bigger wing like Smith get a lot of minutes.

I love De'ron Davis, but he averaged 7 fouls per 40 minutes played last year....given foul problems and rest that big players need, I can't see him averaging North of 24 minutes per game next year.

I could see him playing around 28. The foul problem was a combination of fatigue, inexperience, and defensive philosophy. He will be in better shape, he'll have a season and summer under his belt, and a different defensive system under Archie.

Archie took a team with 6"6 post players to the Elite 8. He will figure out how to use guys like Mcswain. Plus, Priller may be able to be used next year.

I'm sorry, but I'm really tired of hearing that stat used as any proof of future promise.
