Starting to feel better considering I haven't seen anything in the press about an actual press conference today at 6:00.  However, if he was announced as gone prior to a Home NIT game, he would be cheered.  If nothing is announced, it could be VERY ugly.  If you are waiting on Donovan before announcing anything, leak the information so you don't see the hostile crowd at the home NIT game.  Get enough of the right people talking to make the fans feel comfortable during the NIT.

He's still under contract with IU.  But his presence at a game doesn't necessarily imply that he's truly recruiting.  And, he'll end up coaching somewhere so he's bound to want to keep up appearances.  When's the last time you heard that he offered a scholly?  To me, that's as telling as FG's silence.

Didn't he offer someone a scholly like 2 or 3 weeks ago?

Lmao @ everyone getting worked up with no announcement yet. That's what happens when you set arbitrary dates in your head as if they mean something to everyone else. This is also what happens when you listen to "insiders" on an Internet forum. Chill guys. People expecting an announcement before the season was over had no basis for doing so. He may be back. He may not, but nothing has been made official. If it came down to a "soft landing (which I don't believe), wouldn't he want to wait until after the tournament to see what all opens up? What has Glass said to be this blithering idiot that you guys make him out to be? Has he said Crean is back? If he has or does he essentially ties himself into a 1 year deal with Crean. He is not that dumb.

But this isn't how you're supposed to internets!

Nonetheless, this should probably be reposted every hour for everyone's sanity.

Yes but dont underestimate what a great showing could do for some of our fans. May be enough to get support back obviously most of us wont be tricked again but not sure about the entire fanbase

If one great showing at home against an NIT squad is enough for this fanbase to renew its faith in Crean leading this program then we absolutely deserve whatever results we get.

The fanbase is so upset glass probably knows a public backing of crean this time would cause a uprise. My guess is crean is gone but if he is planning on bringing him back probably best thing would be lay low say nothing hope for a nit championship and let this blow over

I feel at this point we are a lock for the NIT, but when is the last season, IU has not played in any kind of tournament non conference or post season? (not counting the B1G because you don't have to be invited to that one and it happens every year)

2 years ago when Crean was rumored to be on the hot seat

2013-2014. That Pre-Conference tourney in New York that year does not count anymore that our invented tourney this year to play IPFW.

2013-2014 when we declined an invite to the CBI

Wow, would have thought it was much longer, we really didn't play a non con tourney that year? Thanks for all who responded!

A soft landing shouldnt be the only way he leaves that is why this board isnt happy. I have barely been posting lately but when Georgia, NC State, LSU, PSU, Nebraska, Umass, UW, Mizzou, Illinois and plenty other schools have made announcements when a few aren't done playing it is stupid to continue to wait. All those schools have done it right. Now they know what next year will be and the schools that fired their coaches can now spend more time finding the right guy. I am not saying a decision should have been made already, but it should be made today or very soon. What recruits are gonna take us seriously if we are not even sure who our coach is? For example Mark Smith liked a tweet a few days ago when a fan of Illinois said why would he go to IU when they dont even know who their coach is gonna be. They were in the same boat at the time but it makes sense. If he feels that way so does Tucker and Walker and whoever else we are going after. Waiting until the NIT is over is not a good excuse lol. If it was the NCAA then I could get behind it. If rumors and talk about what we are gonna do is so stupid, what is the point of these forums? I don't think we should be freaking out and acting as if the world is over but to not question it is ridiculous.

This isn't a popular stance here, especially on this board... But I've been watching the Hoosiers for 30 years and will continue to watch and cheer on this team regardless of the coach.

Do I want a new coach? Absolutely. Can I do anything to make that happen? Face it, unless you're a big time booster, none of us have any control.

Accept the team and coaching staff we're given and cheer them on or allow yourself to be miserable. Completely your choice.

But I'm cheering for success.... In the NIT and next season.

Have it my friend. Hopefully they give you more to cheer about than to cuss about. I won't be tuning it.

I like IU, but not enough to stick around and root for garbage teams. If the guys at the top let the fans know that they don't care about winning then neither will I.

After thinking, there is one way I can see benefit to waiting and this is hypothetical.

I can see benefit to waiting if there has been quite a bit of progress on a deal with someone like Donovan and something like timing is the hang up (although as I've already mentioned there are still ways to make it work) and you're confident a deal will be made that he'll sign.  Waiting could help to allow the time for him to finish his season while we at least have the illusion of a coach, plus there is at least some deniability publicly for both sides if we wait.

That's about the only way I see benefit to waiting.

EDIT:  The problem is it also makes it pretty obvious both sides were talking while under a previous contract because it's unlikely a deal came together in short time.  Not a good look for either side.
