If true---this tells me IU already has someone in mind. As an older IU alum--even if it is a homerun hire--- I hope IU at least interviews or talks to key former players to show respect and receive input. Part of smart planning to keep our fanbase united. Stuhoo Posted March 18, 2017 Posted March 18, 2017 It seems to me that IU absolutely has someone in place, and possibly a less experienced but young and local guy like Holtmann or Fife in line as a fallback. Chris Nieman, Yogi's Picnic Basket, Class of '66 Old Fart and 2 others 5 Quote
ap2345 Posted March 18, 2017 Posted March 18, 2017 Mile also said this about Alford as well "Alford sewed the seeds of discontent as a player at IU. Fans and friends of the program at that time have not forgotten. Too bad for Steve, is that not only have they not forgotten, but now those fans and friends have gone on to become trustees, now former trustees, and boosters with considerable influence. Once an IU fan. Always an IU fan. Unfortunately for Steve, some of those fans are now in a position to sway some important heads. Once again.... follow the money." Class of '66 Old Fart Posted March 18, 2017 Posted March 18, 2017 Is it still too soon after the firing or should we begin to feel some relief that we haven't yet had any player transfer announcements? Is there more loyalty to IU than we may have thought with some of the players and they will wait to see just who the next coach is? And finally, what was the point of FG going down and shaking FCTC's hand immediately prior to the NIT game? In retrospect, it seems very very odd. NCHoosier 1 Quote

ap2345 Posted March 18, 2017 Posted March 18, 2017 Most players at IU, Illinois, NC State and other schools will wait to see who the new coach is going to be and how that coach plans to use them in their system. No to mention Glass said that the players wouldn't be bask from spring break until Sunday when he had scheduled to meet with them. Quote
Popular Post iubb Posted March 18, 2017 Popular Post Posted March 18, 2017 n_zeis2As a former Indiana Hoosier basketball player who grew up an IU Basketball fan, I would like to share some of the positive things Tom Crean did for me at IU. Coach Crean believed I could accomplish greater things than anyone else did -even myself. He pushed me every day to become the best person and basketball player that I could be. He was the ultimate motivator. He cared for and loved me like a father, something that he did for each of his players. He taught me what it takes to be successful in life. He didn't just prepare me for every game, he prepared me for life after IU in the professional world. Without Coach Crean being at IU, I would not have fulfilled my life long dreams of playing basketball at Indiana University and becoming a professional basketball player. I would not have had one of the best years of my life playing with my teammates, who are now like brothers. We won every home game, and won a Big Ten Championship in 2016 because Coach Crean helped us develop all the skills we needed to win and win big! He believed in us! I had the best head coach, coaching staff, training staff and office staff I could have ever asked for to win a national championship my senior year. Unfortunately, my teammates and I did not get the job done despite having everything we needed to do so. If my teammates and I hadn’t played one of our worst games as a collective group in the Sweet Sixteen last year, maybe we would've advanced to the Final Four. That was on us-not the coaches. IU was truly blessed to have had Coach Crean, his staff, and their families for the last nine plus years. I have had no greater privilege than to have been a player under Coach Tom Crean. Thank you Coach Crean and as always Go IU!https://www.instagram.com/p/BRyd9cajzyn/ thebigweave, Deserthoozier, hoosierfan6157 and 5 others 8 Quote
