TOM CREAN FIRED

Recommended Posts

Carson Harris the head coach at Marian U. in Indianapolis has resigned effective the end of the season.  Someone needs to forward the job posting to CTC.  He wouldn't even have to relocate and could make the 'easy' commute from Bloomington to Indy.

Looks like Stevens has been approched and has said no. (Per an insider on another IU board). Was a longshot but at least this should put to bed the Stevens to IU dream. That shadow can move away and we can find a quality coach.

Of course Stevens is going to say "no". We currently have a head coach. He's smart enough to know that if he says yes, 1. It would be leaked immediately and IU fans would have a field day and 2. He also knows that we currently have a coach, and by saying "yes" we'd fire Crean instantly.

I think it amounts to what his goal in life is. Is it to win an NBA championship? Or is it to coach at IU and win a championship here? No one will ever know unless we actually fire Crean first.

I know someone who spoke to Stevens at a game. Now this was last year at about this point in the season when IU was doing better than expected. I don't remember exactly how he approached the question, but he asked him about his interest in IU. He flat out said he had absolutely no interest and that we had a good coach. So this is my question: Is that just something coaches say? There is no way he can truly believe that.

I'm not saying that he flat out lied. I'm just saying literally what else could he possibly say?

Imagine if he says he would love it. With the Celtics fanbase and ours it would be a madhouse. He respects the game and people if he has those convos it will be behind closed doors. For maybe only a handful of people if that. U dont talk up any job when you have one already. Good way to lose respect from the circles of sports.

This is the same as the dude bringing up Mark Cuban and Yogi's comments on Crean. What else are they going to say? These people aren't going to come out and blast Crean publicly, they stand to get nothing out of it. What would Brad get by saying he'd love to take the IU job after he just had a game.

Plus I have never heard a coach publicly downplay a team. In tv interviews or any interview everything is always "that's a great team" "that's a good team" "they've got a really good coach" etc.

Call me crazy but I still think Stevens is a possibility. This year? Doubtful. In the near future? I say possible!

It's been rumored that he's not fond of recruiting. How would you improve recruiting without actually recruiting? Winning, in college (check) and in the NBA (currently accomplishing). Would he return to college if he knows he's capable of recruiting at a high level without spending his entire time on the road? I think so.

Yeah wasnt Donovan our coach 2 seasons ago according to inside sources.

Yeah and Crean was Bama's. And Marshall was either going to Bama or IU or Texas. But one thing was for sure...Crean was not coming back that next year.

Not a big fan of Fred, at most it's barley a lateral move. We either need a homerun hire or a hire that has major major potential.

Thank god i don't have Glass's job. My current wish list is Stevens, Donovan, Kevin Ollie, or maybe Archie Miller.

Dude Ollie has been horrible since he lost the guys Calhoun got and coached up. That is an easy pass

I think Brad Stevens is absolutely still a possibility. Of course he's going to say he has no interest since IU currently has a HC. And he's definitely not gonna say that Crean is a terrible coach. This is what all coaches say in the public eye. And Brad is also very aware of the fact that if he would've said the exact opposite, this fan base would be losing its collective mind. I still think Stevens is gonna happen. This is the same guy that left Butler for the Celtics after signing a long term extension. There is a chance and I think it's greater than most people believe

His season will end late May. He is not coming to IU. We will not go 2+ months without a coach. Summer session starts before he would get hired.
