TOM CREAN FIRED

Recommended Posts

"We gotta get a lot better at game plan defense". Really Tommy? And don't ever use the term "unconventional " again!! Every time I listen to him I get more frustrated!! I'd be embarrassed to show my face after playing these cupcakes... We should play Butler, Xavier, UofL, and Cincy every year!!! Add UCLA in there too! Hell, this would give us the practice we need going into the B1G ! Not the likes of KS friggin U !! Rant not over!!

problem with playing that tough of schedule is it leaves no margin of error and if you lose all of the tough games your season is pretty much over before the start of the big 10 season. Anyone else remember the 2004-05 non conference schedule? 6 straight loses, North Carolina at home, Uconn on the road, notre dame at home, Kentucky at freedom hall, Missouri on the road and Charlotte at home. I agree we need to get rid of the 300 plus cupcakes no reason why should have 5 games against teams like that

still interesting how much attention it gets when nothing new has happened except for beating ND and some terrible school, and IUFB played in a bowl game.

People still talk about it bc the issues are still the same. Yeah IU beat a ND team that has a worse defense than ours. Yeah Indiana beat KSU, but they suck. So really we haven't improved and when we reach the tough part of our schedule the losses will start to stack up. January could be a good month as we play nobody that is better than us. February/March will be brutal and then we will finally get our wish......he gone.

I'd rather have a schedule about like what Michigan State plays.  They get used to playing quality opponents and risk a few losses to be better prepared for B1G and March.

Of course with their coach they expect to make the tourney every season, no exceptions, and with Crean making a 68 team field is an accomplishment in itself.

Problem is I really don't see a brutal schedule in February or March. We are in the B1G and we play MSU, PU, and Maryland once over those months. You add in Iowa twice, PSU, at Illinois, and at Michigan. I just don't see it as that brutal. Crean lucked out this year. Anything less than 11 or 12 wins should be problematic. IMO he should have to win one of the 3 "tough" games. I am sorry I know you don't view his schedule as an excuse down the road. I just hope I don't see others on the fence point back to that. This is the B1G. That schedule is the best anyone could ask for.

Here's what will happen. We'll fade down the stretch, lose early in both the BTT and NCAAs (if we make them), and despite that Crean will be viewed as doing just enough to keep his job. He'll be the coach next season even though he should've been fired after last season.

I think he will lose more in February than March. Ultimately I think it comes down to Glass, boosters, and how we play down the stretch. I feel he isn't on a hot seat as much as some want but we will see.

Then they are making a horrible business. They are hurting the brand leaving him as coach there's no real excitement for basketball like there was 4 years ago

His seat should be so hot that he can't sit down, but I don't think the administration gives a crap and I think Glass is among the ones that don't care.

I just don't think they agree with you. Merchandise and booster money is where it's at. They are still right where they expect to be. That's their bottom line. Yours as a fan is W-L. Theirs as a department is money. They set goals yearly and every time I have been to a speaking engagement they seem very happy about that. Any time I am around Bloomington something new is coming up. So I do believe they are getting done what they want as a department.

Its not that they don't care but see my post above. I see a lot of people call Glass a fanboy yourself included. If we are to look at the whole situation objectively wouldn't it be the exact opposite?

IMO that is why Brad Stevens is the only answer. He could easily have more of a backing generating more donations for the Athletic Department. Until Crean bottoms out on donations the others we discuss will be lucky to pull the revenue Creandoes from the big donors. I think Glass only wants to work with guarantees after his extension. Brad Stevens.
