recker222000 Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 Bryant wouldn't have made a roster. He'd be stuck in perpetual D league or Euro league. Bryant seems to enjoy college. I think he made a good choice as he is trying to improve enough to actually make a roster. Not sure it's going to happen though with his athletic ceiling being so low. Not athletic enough to play any position in the NBA. Kind of like Watford in that way. I thought Watfords size and shooting actually gave him a better chance. I'm still hoping to see Bryant take that next step somehow and be an NBA success, somehow. I'm just having a hard time seeing him overcome athletic disadvantages. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBannersWell alot of his deficiencies are now front and center and last year yogi helped hide them. He wont get drafted this year imo. He is awfully slow.Sent from my SM-J700T using Tapatalk WayneFleekHoosier 1 Quote
HoosierRob Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 Not saying Bryant is coming back. But he's not close to being ready. He's a smart kid. So we'll see. Quote

His post footwork is so bad, it's laughable. He has no chance as an NBA player now, and wouldn't for a few years. His perimeter game is okay, but nowhere near NBA ready. Hoosierfan2017 Posted January 14, 2017 Posted January 14, 2017 Bryant should've went pro last year. He probably wouldn't have made a roster and he was nowhere near ready as this season shows. but he might've gotten a guaranteed contract. That's never going to happen now unless he makes drastic improvements in multiple facets of his game. He couldn't play any position in the league right now. Alford Bailey 1 Quote
bleedhoosier Posted January 14, 2017 Posted January 14, 2017 At this point, I'm just kind of hoping Crean makes some changes to match his personnel. I would say run some offensive sets but apparently we have the 8th best offense in the nation. So... every freaking practice should be dedicated to defense from here out. That's surely how any high level coach would handle the glaring need on his team, right?Sent from my SCH-I545 using BtownBanners mobile app ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote

JSHoosier Posted January 14, 2017 Posted January 14, 2017 Good thing he's overpaid, he owes a few people lol. Wade for people even knowing who he is. Zeller for saving his tail here. Glass for not having expectations. No wonder he was signed to such a stupid contract after not doing anything. (Joking, well, kind of....) recker222000 and ALASKA HOOSIER 2 Quote

Remember that rating is based on the 348 best schedule. If Crean didn't load the schedule with so many terrible teams that rating wouldn't look so good. Note, that's not to say the defense is terrible. recker222000, bleedhoosier and ALASKA HOOSIER 3 Quote

But guys like greg doyel will be salivating about what a great job crean did because he won 20 games.Sent from my SM-J700T using Tapatalk ALASKA HOOSIER 1 Quote

Except that Crean has never coached the kids on how to move without the ball, nor how to set up a proper screen, and it's quite evident that he doesn't preach about valuing possessions and taking only good quality shots. It'd be like trying to teach an old dog new tricks, he just can't do it at this point in the season. Old Friend, ALASKA HOOSIER, Hoosierfan2017 and 2 others 5 Quote

Of course there are people on here who have suggested going and getting D2, D3, and NAIA coaches to take over the program cause they're from Indy, who cares that they'd never even compete recruiting wise. So they probably do believe that The high school coach statements are mostly hyperbole, at least to me. I feel the overriding point is that given 9 yrs with all of IUs resources, there are HS coaches that could produce similar results, and at a far cheaper price. People are just so disenfranchised right now that they may in fact be willing to take a 3-4 year risk on someone rather than watch the same show for even one more year. It's not a totally ridiculous thought. Izzo, Beilein, Roy Williams, Mark Few, and Mick Cronin all coached HS, and that's just off the top of my head. Bo Ryan was D3 coach that adapted pretty well and pretty quickly. Yes, they all had intermediate stops for experience along the way, but right now some people have seen enough of Crean that the risk/ reward has veered heavily to the risk side. Having watched the same 9 years that they have, I can't fault them for that. Not a route I'd personally choose, but it's a reality of where we are right now. To be fair, if Blackmon stayed for his senior year (which I don't think he will) he would probably be right around the Top 10 all-time on the scoring list, and that's with missing half a season. mdn82 Posted January 14, 2017 Posted January 14, 2017 Blackmon wouldn't play for Knight. That defense issue and the type of shots he takes would not endear him to Knight.Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Bowhunter, ALASKA HOOSIER, Hoosierfan2017 and 3 others 6 Quote
